Star Trek Online lets Klingons fly the new and improved Titan

It makes you go.

If you haven’t yet watched Star Trek: Lower Decks… well, what are you waiting for? But if you have, you’ll know that there’s an excellent arrival by the USS Titan, commanded by William Riker. Star Trek Online has had the Luna-class ship around for quite some time, but the appearance of a new Titan was incentive to launch the T6 Titan-class on the game’s shop. And then… there was a problem, because KDF captains were able to purchase and redeem and use the Starfleet ship.

Rather than fixing this bug, however, the designers decided that people liked it so they’d just roll with it. It might be buggy, and there have been bugs fixed with regards to the Titan, like no longer letting people use the free T6 ship coupon to purchase it (since it’s a new ship). But everyone gets to feel that warm rush of piloting the ship that saved the USS Cerritos. It feels like an appropriate tribute.

I think I’d prefer the Cerritos itself with 25c and movie skins.

If you haven’t yet watched Star Trek: Lower Decks… well, what are you waiting for?

For a show that doesn’t suck? Youtube dumped the first episode on me as an *AD* in the middle of something I wanted to watch. (Which is a whole other issue – the episode was like 40 minutes, and the video I *wanted* to watch was like… four.) I slogged through about five minutes of it, and that was plenty. All of the characters are unlikable jerks, the apparent main character is a self-absorbed liar, and the entire concept behind the show annoys me. (It seems to be inspired by Rick & Morty… and made by someone who hasn’t realized that Rick is the villain.)

The ship itself is okay. It’s a “Science Destroyer,” which seems to mean that it’s able to equip dual heavy cannons and has lots of science console slots. If you want to summon a black hole *and* shoot the heck out of enemies that get pulled into it, this is the ship you’re looking for. And it’s nice that they let KDF captains keep it. It’s the “Year of the Klingon,” and other than one mega-carrier I don’t think the KDF has even *gotten* any other new ships this year.

You may want to give it another try. the first episode may be a bit of a slog and I can see why ppl would want to dismiss it, and yes the style is very similar to Rick and Morty animation wise (Mike McMahan was (is?) a writer and producer on Rick and Morty)

but he’s also a HUGE star trek fan and creator of the popular TNG Season 8 twitter.

he cares about trek and wanted to make something that pokes fun at the absurdity of life aboard a starfleet ship.

every episode ends on a more or less positive note, the captain ALWAYS tries diplomacy before resorting to phasers and embodies the spirit of a trek starfleet captain.

over the course of the first season the characters grow and learn and start to become more serious about their starfleet careers while still managing to make fun of star trek and not take itself too seriously like Picard or Discovery.

there is a lot of #notmytrek, but i really enjoyed the show and look forward to more episodes.

The first episode is a bit rough but it gets better with each going on. By the end of the season it can be argued that Lower Decks is the best first season of any Trek, with the exception of TOS.

“There may be MANY bugs with this. Consider yourself a beta tester if you do buy one.”

So does consistently ordering Klingon cuisine void the standard Federation food replicator warranty?

Replace the word “one” with “STO” and you’re on the money lol

That’s hilarious! I enjoy canon as much as anyone else, but I’m glad they’re loosening the reins a bit and just letting everyone have FUN. Now I might get it just so I can do Klingon missions in it because that sounds like a riot!

well, considering the current timeline story…

Since the klingons have currently splintered into 3 factions, and one of them is still allied with the fed and other races because of the Iconian storyarc, it makes sense that at least those klingons would have access to a new fed ship especially after the Khitomer ship was introduced.

They didn’t ‘loosen’ anything. As usual it’s something QA missed (IE – It wasn’t SUPPOSED to be available to KDF – but it was; same with the T6 Free Shup Tokens <— You weren't supposed to be able to use them to 'buy' the ship because its a 'new' item; but you could – and I did ;)) — the latter issue was 'fixed in the most recent patch of course and Cryptic stated anyone who claimed it that way would keep it.

As for the KDF issue, they're going to allow the KDF to continue to fly the T6 version (in universe they had a tweet that said the KDF managed to steal some…); BUT the KDF WILL NOT be ablr to obtain the T6 Fleet version of the ship.

TLDR: Cryptic QA strikes again.

I kind of suspect their “generosity” is related to that – their tools to moderate their own store are so woeful that I strongly suspect they *can’t* reverse the Free Coupon purchases or “just delete it” from people who claimed it on a Klingon. They decided to “just roll with it” because they can’t actually do anything about it without possibly breaking a ton of other stuff. This way they don’t have to try to fix it (win for them) and they look generous at no real cost (Also a win.) KDF players weren’t supposed to be able to have it, so they’re not “losing” ship sales.

It doesn’t count as “loosening the reins” until at least they let KDF access the Fleet version. (Which is a straight stats upgrade, though not massively so.) What would *really* count as “loosening” would be if the *next* Starfleet ship is available to KDF straight off… and then they reciprocate by allowing Starfleet characters to buy the next *KDF* ship. (When/if such a thing ever happens.)
