You perhaps aren’t familiar with Shanghai-based Yoozoo Games, but if you’ve heard of free-to-play games like Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming or League of Angels, then you know about the studio’s work. With that in mind, it’s our unfortunate duty to report that the publisher/developer’s CEO and founder, 39-year-old Lin Qi, died this past Christmas Day of suspected poisoning.

Qi was hospitalized this past Thursday, December 17th, in order to treat the poisoning but ultimately passed away on the 25th. A work colleague, who is only confirmed to have the surname of Xu, has been detained in relation to the suspected murder, but Shanghai police have otherwise not released any other details at the time of this writing. Reporting from Chinese business magazine Caixin said the detained individual is an employee of Yoozoo’s film division who was working on a Netflix adaptation of the sci-fi book series “The Three-Body Problem” according to unspecified insider sources.
