Path of Exile talks about lore goals and Heist’s core version on the way to its next expansion reveal

We’re very near to the point where Path of Exile is about to unveil its next expansion aka update 3.13.0, but there are still a few loose ends to tie up yet. One of which is whether Heist will be part of the core game once the expansion goes live. On that front, the devs confirmed on Reddit that Heist is expected to become part of the ARPG’s core content, but players should wait until the 3.13 announcement on January 7th to find out the reportedly low number of changes it will receive for its core implementation.

Another loose end (so to speak) is related to lore, which was touched on in a developer post that offered an overall look at the lore of the Atlas from each expansion up to this point. The devs have a few lore goals in mind for 3.13, namely leaning on the eldritch and ominous nature of the Shaper and the Elder, addressing some admitted to “omissions and gaps” in the Conquerors of the Atlas storyline, and setting up the narrative for the future, which means some questions will remain unanswered for a while but those who like to speculate “will not be disappointed” according to the post.

As a reminder, Grinding Gear Games will be unveiling the 3.13 expansion on Thursday, January 7th, at 2:00 p.m. EST on its Twitch channel. And for those who really love the nuts and bolts way the studio does things, there’s a post all about how the devs put together patch notes.
