Leave it, we're chilling.

Looking forward to another go at a cross-platform MMORPG for mobile and PC? Gran Saga is just such a game, and it has an upcoming launch date announcement on January 7th, 2021. The development studio behind the game has taken that as the preamble for launching a new trailer filled with gameplay footage, showing players engaged in a variety of activities from dungeoneering to social gameplay to facing off against enormous bosses that still somehow look like good dogs.

There’s also a boss that’s a metal frog. This is just that kind of game. Those opposed to such a thing are encouraged to clock out now.

Of course, the trailer is all in Korean, being as the game is only launching at this point in South Korea, but it should be worth a watch to anyone curious about the title or hopeful for a localized version. Plus, you know, it’s pretty. Check out the trailer just below.

I really don’t understand these companies that seem to continue to think players want “MMORPGs” that use race-locked, gender-locked, and essentially non-customizable, pre-created characters, with any actual customization, if there ends up being any at all, typically locked behind a cash shop.

Everything else about this looks pretty great, but I don’t want to play as someone else’s pre-created character in my MMO, and things like this always immediately turn me off of games no mater how nice the rest looks. That’s what single-player, or even more story-driven co-op experiences like Genshin Impact (which does NOT bill itself as an MMO or MMORPG, contrary to many people’s misconceptions), are for.

Funny that you mention Genshin Impact, as this game has exactly the non-customizable, pre-created characters you don’t like.
