There’s going to be no shortage of major updates to MMOs in 2021. The Elder Scrolls Online and Guild Wars 2 already have expansions announced, everyone knows another Final Fantasy XIV expansion is on the way, there will be major patches for World of Warcraft and Black Desert, and that’s just covering some big titles. You could be really excited about the upcoming updates to Phantasy Star Online 2, and that’s totally valid.
When we think about the year ahead for gaming, our focus tends to be on new titles that we’re looking forward to simply because that’s what we’re trained to think about. After all, new games coming out is the model for the industry as a whole. But when it comes to online games there’s the added dimension of updates to games we’re already enjoying, stuff that we might be looking forward to even more than entirely new titles.
