Happy 10th birthday, DC Universe Online! Oh, is that a gift for us? You shouldn’t have! And it’s a fight against some horrible paradox monster? That’s so thoughtful! You’re just the best.
Yes, this anniversary event features a new event raid, in both standard and elite forms, that has players fighting against the Kraken to foil a scheme by the Anti-Monitor, which is a sentence that only makes sense in MMOs and comic books. In addition, the event will feature an updated Metropolis Anti-Matter Invasion Zone with brand-new daily, weekly, and bounty missions to take on. Of course, there are some new rewards as well, with styles inspired by The Flash and Professor Zoom, scaling gear, Boss Triumph Statue base items, and more.
In addition, there will be returning anniversary content from previous years that can be found in the Centennial Collapse section of the On Duty menu, reduced reward costs for goodies from previous anniversaries, and additional freebies that will be handed out on January 11th, the official date of DCUO’s anniversary. It’s a milestone and a whole lot of celebration for fans.
And one of the quietest successes in MMO’s keeps on chuggin. Congo-rats, DCUO.
Tried this a couple of times.
But just never ‘clicked’ for me.
Did not really feel very ‘super’ or ‘heroic’ playing my character.
I agree. But to be fair, we really arent supposed to be. The DCU heroes are running around while we do all the grunt work. Better than lexcorp security but worse than D-list heroes. I’ll give DCUO this much, at least we can create our own heroes, something the Marvel diablo clone never did.
Wooo! 10 years without any real graphic engine updates or graphic improvements on the PC!!!
Way to go developers!
You can blame both the cross platform issue and the fact Daybreak cant afford to really upgrade any of their game’s graphic engines. Maybe their new bosses are willing to foot the bill.
Cross platform would mean that PC could play with Playsation players… and for the longest time they couldnt (they might be able to now?)
But I know what you mean.. .developing a game on multiple systems, and trying to keep everything the same to keep the maintenance portion of it small.
Also… considering this uses Unreal Engine 3, moving to UE4 or 5 wouldnt be a hard jump, or an expensive one.
The last time it got a graphical update was way back when the improvements for the PS4 came in and got passed along to the PC.
