Multiplayer extreme sports racer Riders Republic sees its release delayed to later this year

Back in September, we cast our eyes on Riders Republic, a multiplayer open world racing title that offered up a variety of extreme sports racing activities on bikes, snowboards, wingsuits, and skis with up to 50 players. The initial plan for the game was to release sometime in February of this year, but it looks like those plans have changed.

“We have made the decision to move our release to later this year,” reads the Twitter image announcement. “This additional time will allow our passionate team to deliver the best fun fueled experience to our players.”

Naturally, “later this year” could mean anything, but an official response to one of the replies offers word that more details will be shared soon™. So while it’s an unfortunate delay for those eager to hop in to what looks like Forza Horizon: X Games Edition, it will hopefully mean good things in the end.

Missed this back in September, but might end up giving this a try.

Looks like they’ve taken a lot of the stuff they had in Steep, then added more stuff and made it more arcadey. Could end up being fun. Steep was an amazing game, absolutely loved the world they built and the style of the sports, but it did lack something when it came to the trick side of things.

Not sure how I feel about the multiplayer side of things, so will need to see what can be done solo or against AI. However, the mass starts (50 player races) sound like they could be a laugh! Carnage, but a laugh. Also like the look of the some of the mountain bike stuff, the Red Bull Rampage is a true extreme event so it would be fun to play through all of that.

Finally, if the wing suit flying is anything like Steep, that’s almost reason enough to buy the game!
