I can’t be the only person wondering about what World of Warcraft has up its sleeve for 2021. Now that Shadowlands is going on two months of live operation, all eyes are on Blizzard to produce the first post-release content update. But what will that entail?
For some hints about this, Game Director Ion Hazzikostas briefly spoke to PC Gamer about the studio’s grand plans for WoW in the new year. According to Hazzikostas, the dev team is working to explore more of Shadowlands‘ unique setting: “This year will see players delve deeper into the mysteries of the Shadowlands, including settings even more fantastical than what we’ve seen so far. I can’t say too much more without getting into heavy spoiler territory, but an incredible journey lies ahead as players work to thwart the plans of the mysterious Jailer.”
Hazzikostas also lightly touched upon some of the concerns that players have had with endgame loot, indicating that he hears that there’s dissatisfaction out there about how World of Warcraft awards gear and goodies. Not that he gives any answers to this issue, just a “Yeah, we hear you, we’re talking about it, stay tuned!” response.
Love reading the comments seeing how many people cry about how WoW isn’t EXACTLY the way they want so they don’t play anymore. Good, more for us real fans.
SL isn’t bad. It’s not my favorite and the timegating is so obvious it’s almost as if blizzard is an 80s movie bully saying “what ya gonna do about it dweeb?”
I’ll check back about 6 months before the next xpac is launched.
Developers: “Here, smoke this…”
Pigtails pipe up: “With her voice we have spoken!”
Moi: “Woah…blessed be her voice!”
…or something like that. o.O
“So what where you smoking when you wrote this, Uta?”
>.<
Sarah….Nintendo has been using the same formula for the Legend of Zelda for 35 years? What makes it any different? I just read someone being negative to be negative.
???
WoW is not LoZ, and LoZ is not a MMO. Things don’t translate equally between single-player games and MMOs.
If you’re happy with WoW, congratz. But me and many others are not, and our dollar is worth the same as yours.
This. This so much. So many of the people that complain about WoW’s predictable nature will post pictures on instagram holding the box of the latest Nintendo or EA Sports rehash…
“This year will see players delve deeper into the mysteries of the Shadowlands, including settings even more fantastical than what we’ve seen so far.”
AKA: more time-gated, pointless grinds and -really- bad writing. Huzzah.
Well… I know better than to say something positive about WoW in this forum, but the article was a good read :)
Absolutely nothing wrong with you liking any particular game if you are having fun in it.
But, don’t confuse that with the game actually being any good. WoW SL is really just a rehash of old ideas and old zone designs.
Maybe I am just jaded after having played the game for 16+ years. :/
If you played a game for 16 years and its mostly the same systems, then its probably a good game. Playing it for so long would make anything monotonous.
Many people eat McDonalds on a regular basis. Does that make it really good food?
Or just easy and convenient with big brand recognition? <— hint: it's that one.
…many people….
Now now, don’t you know the people speaking FOR you are always right? Don’t be questioning them ;P!
More right than he or you are ;)
Yeah, actually.
According to this site: https://www.fool.com/investing/2016/10/11/15-fascinating-things-you-probably-didnt-know-abou.aspx#:~:text=According%20to%20its%20operations%20and,every%20day%20of%20the%20year.%22 they sell 75 hamburgers a second.
I’d call that “many people”, wouldn’t you, buttercup?
Does it make it good food? Nope.
Many people (though FAR LESS than a decade ago ;) ) play WoW.
Does that make it a good game?
Nope.
I was just referring to your comment on the last postive post I made about warcraft that there wasn’t anybody playing nowadays. I guess that makes it a good game, no?
I have no idea why she doesn’t get hit with the Mod stick more often, it’s one thing to make your own critical comment but when you consistently make negative comments on other peoples comments; who the hell am I kidding I do the same thing.
Yeh, I think it’s something I do too – as long as it’s light and doesn’t personally attack, it’s just like debate club.
Cry about it?
Nope :) just people finally realizing they don’t like the taste of garbage I guess. Even Blizzard can only stick so many maggots in there before even the fan boys start to notice.
But of course, there’s always a few that still gulp it down ;) I bet I can guess a few who do.
This is such a needlessly condescending comment.
“It’s okay if you enjoy bad games”. Yeah, thanks for your approval there. Your chronic hatred of Blizzard and WoW is just as subjective as anyone’s enjoyment.
Reminds me of Trump supporters crapping on any positive Biden comment on CNN or MSNBC article lol.
You ARE jaded. Like, dude. It’s non-debatable. You’re like the black void that sucks anything that someone says about WoW maybe being enjoyable.
That being said, it’s not like WoW is better. A lot of it is also a black void sucking the fun out of itself.
She reminds me of the guy SoMuchMass that used to show up in GW2 articles back in the day.
Err…no. His was a life’s crusade against it, that came up on every topic where ever he posted…even on games that had nothing to do with GW2, lol. Least Ms. Cushaway, along with Mr. wu, keeps their hate-on confined to WoW related stuff. Thank goodness.
Oribos being a hub with literal portals to different dimensions/realms of the Shadowlands certainly is a convenient way to add new zones as the expansion goes on.
Yeah…I think there’s 4 or more gates that sit completely unused there.
