Check out this amazing player-created trailer for LOTRO’s Mordor expansion

Swanky.

Do you remember back in 2017 when Lord of the Rings Online released that embarrassingly bad trailer for the Mordor expansion that was in 460p? Pepperidge Farm remembers. It was really bad, people. At least it gave us a goldmine of hilarious comments (our favorite: “The Budget of the Five Armies”).

Of course, leave it up to the devoted community to whip up something far better than the studio did at that time. YouTuber MiniExpBounder took up the task of creating a trailer worthy of LOTRO’s most evil-est zone — and the end result is spectacular. Give it a watch — it might just get you in the mood to walk where angels fear to tread.

Good editing, shame that the person used actual in-game recording because the game looks extremely dated now (yes, I am aware many people don’t care if their game looks like a blurry mess made in late 90’s, I am not one of them). Would be interesting to see similar trailer but where locations and characters are made using latest Unreal Engine with ray tracing enabled.

SSG,hire MiniExpBounder to make videos for you. Ten thousand time better than yours.
Of course, as one who really enjoys Lhaereth’s voice – I may want more of Her Ladyship…but clip is supeb. Captures atmosphere, makes one want to go/return to Mordor.

Such a better trailer. They did such a great job, much better than the official trailer. As an aside “The One Ring” 2nd Edition Kickstarter just kicked off and it blew through all 9 stretch goals in hours. I backed it, couldn’t resist going all in plus. :)

I couldn’t finish it, LOTRO is a very nice vintage MMO but it still looks like it has graphics that belong in 2010 with a few flashes of slightly modern flame graphics.

I’ll stick with ESO, which has better monetization than LOTRO.

Yet, despite it’s monetization which is downright outrageous and infuriating, the game seems to be doing better than ever. It seems to have drawn an entirely new community of players. Websites dedicated to raid guides, class builds, decorations and plenty of youtube content. You hardly had any of that a few years back.

While talented, it’s also a community begging for more repeatable quests, more cash shop, more ‘sales’, …
I don’t know, I can’t with a clear conscience support the game nor do I wish to be part of a community which welcomes dailies as actual content, which applauds grind reduction items being sold in a store while the game actively continues to build grind on top of grind, a community which buys ‘expansions’ at 100$ while the content is thinner than ever.

So this begs the question; who’s really out of touch? The sh*t pulled by SSG, from communication to monetization, from performance issues to donwright broken content, it all leads me to beleive they’ve lost it, both the devs ánd the community. But then again, if they really did ‘lose’ it, why is the game so popular? How can so many people be so wrong? Perhaps they’re not and I’m just nostalgic/envious? Perhaps I just need to move on and admit I’m from a different generation of gamers that no longer has a place in MMOs.

I’d love to see LotRO re-done in an engine like ESO’s with better server optimization, since theirs isn’t the best. Blizzard does it servertech much better than ESO.

Agree with the first part you said.

I cant stand ESOs awful aoe-y combat and spells…its just another awful variant of GW2 which is just as trash.
