If you thought that the trio of top-shelf items that Standing Stone Games released with this year’s Ill Omens event sounded way too good, just know that the studio agrees with you. The Lord of the Rings Online developer pushed out a patch on Wednesday to nerf the overpowered rewards.
The Obvious Portents of Strength, Vitality, and Deftness all saw the maximum level that they could be equipped on a character dropped from 140 to 135, and all of them had their effects reduced in duration or potency.
Players have speculated from this patch that the next level cap increase will take players to 135 (the current cap is 130). Community Manager Jerry Snook said that’s not necessarily the case: “I wanted to confirm that while the Portents are remaining at level 135 in tomorrow’s patch, 135 is not expected to be the next level cap increase.”
