The Daily Grind: What’s the most recent milestone you’ve crossed in MMOs?

21

It’s only natural to want to celebrate when you reach a certain milestone in an MMORPG. Maybe it’s reaching the level cap, making your first large sum of money, getting that first purple item, or crossing off that rare achievement you’ve been chasing.

I hit two such milestones this past weekend, thank you for asking. I got to level 40 in WoW Classic, which meant I finally got a mount and could blissfully stop running everywhere. Also, I got my very first level 50 character in Elder Scrolls Online and started in on that fancy Champion Points system I’ve heard so much about.

Today, we all have permission to brag. What’s the most recent milestone you’ve crossed in your MMO?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

I made enough money to afford a sub for Albion if I ever want to buy it with silver. :)

About to finally finish BFA Pathfinder in WoW; A two month-long journey. Obviously I was unable or unwilling to log in every singe day, or it may not have taken as long, but I try not to burn out on one goal too hard these days. Better to have a variety of things going on across several heroes or games. Balance is key for maximum enjoyment.

I made 750,000 gold this week in ESO, my Guild was shocked I’ve never done any refining of the raw meats I gathered; now that I’m refining everything I’m getting some really expensive crafting items so I’m hoping I cross that million gold per week threshold soon.

My wife doesn’t play MMOs but she’s number one on the leaderboards in some Mobile game called Disney Emoji Blitz (she insists she isn’t spending money on the damn thing, but I find it very hard to believe a Mobile game isn’t pay to win).

Lots of games are a matter of time saved, not absolute power.

If there’s PvP/leaderboards on short term seasons, maybe its P2W, at least on release, but if you have long term constant play for many months to years, you’re going to have a great account to do anything, usually.

Except gold seems to be worthless after a certain point in that game. Like, there’s nothing to do but repair stuff. After you’ve unlocked all your character’s bank space/stable stuff. I hit that point and started to wonder what the point in thieving even was…other than being a unique/fun system…it really has no…value?

Clearing the final savage mode raid tier in FFXIV with my static. Though it happened weeks ago, it’s the only noteworthy thing and the only MMO I’m playing right now. Though now that we reached the pinnacle and we’re at the point of just reclearing and farming all of it in one night 1 on reset day. It’s just mechanical at this point and not very exciting and 2/4 fights are pretty boring unfortunately. Doesn’t really get entertaining until we get to bosses 3 and 4.

That is what I’ll be doing until April when we get the next patch.

Realizing I don’t really need to play TERA anymore.

This epiphany came after I had transferred my account successfully to the new publisher. However, the process of the download the “patch” for it got borked, so I am unable to run it. But in that, the itch to play or resolve that wasn’t there…

…so long and thanks for all the fish, Bluehole/Krafton. /bows
