It’s been a long-held axiom in the gaming industry that players will always, always pick the path of least resistance toward a goal or desired reward — even if said path is less enjoyable than another one that is longer or more complex.

This issue certainly been the bane of MMO developers, who always have to be cognizant of whether they’re unintentionally creating shortcuts that’ll end up funneling players through a single corridor of not-fun just for the sake of quicker rewards or progress.

But is this axiom true for you? Do you take the path of least resistance in MMOs, or do you play and progress the way you want, efficiency be damned?
