Darksburg introduces a new progression system in latest patch, attributes update delays to COVID

If you’ve been wondering where the co-op rogue-like ARPG Darksburg has been, last week brought some good news as a recent update has arisen after a span of several months where the game saw no updates whatsoever.

“With the current world situation, movements in and out of lockdown here in France, working from home and all of the complications that came alongside all of this, the last few months have been challenging as a studio and as a team,” remarks the news post. “But, with that out of the way, we’d like to introduce you to the first of our planned 2021 content updates ‘The Masteries Update’!”

The new patch has added a Mastery progression system to Darksburg, where players can earn Mastery Points from playing at all difficulty levels and completing newly-added daily Jobs that can be spent in a Mastery Tree, unlocking account-wide run upgrades, new gear to push into higher difficulty levels, and Survivor-specific mini-tree perks. The notes also promise that players who unlock a Survivor’s full tree will get “a very nice surprise.”

The patch has also added new random events, new services from Tiny Tom, two new affixes, and three new Tomes of Self Improvement, along with several character balance adjustments. The patch notes provide the full rundown.

I’ve been hoping this would get updates! These sound good, though I still hope they’re working on more map layouts, felt pretty lacking when I played. Will have to hop back in after this is live, maybe I can get a friend or two to pick it up. It’s good fun and seems like it would be way better with friends.

Good luck, Shiro dudes. They’re good peoples.

Edit: Now that I’ve read the actual notes…

We hope you all enjoy the update, and look forward to sharing details on our next update (which we’ll likely see within the next month or so, if all goes to plan) which will focus on making each run through Darksburg more unique and memorable and maybe even see the return of some “classic” Darksburg stuff…

YAY! Guess I’ll be back into it to check out the masteries and start leveling up a few characters now. Hopefully there are still groups for the normal modes, I bloody suck at the game ;_;
