In my mind underwater content suffers from how disorienting it is to deal with movement in all directions. It becomes difficult to judge distance. This isn’t limited to underwater either as the same can happen with flying or outer space.

Once you get combat involved, it typically exacerbates that issue. It really highlights how carefully tuned a game is in regards to its use of 3D space.


Yeah that’s what I was thinking too. But I think the 3D direction isn’t too bad on its own, like in a space game you’d probably get used to it eventually. For MMOs, I think the real disorienting part is when you continually transition from lateral/limited 3D movement like the ground, to full-range 3D movement when underwater. So many changes going on at once every time you drop in and out.

Good questions, good answers, thank you very much, i want to talk about every one of these questions but i won’t :-)

Blizzard should be concerned, this time i see WoW youtubers talking about FFXIV or even moving to it, and with them they’ll move some WoW players to FFXIV, this may not be a large thing right now but i think it’s a death by a thousands self-inflicted cuts, there will be no WoW killer except WoW itself.

While Blizzard try to make new systems every expansion, all these systems are about gear and combat, when was the last time Blizzard made a new system for non-combat content? i think it was pet battle in Pandaria and that was 2012.

Right now in FFXIV i’m crafting housing items for my apartment (too poor to buy a house!) and it make me spend so much time just going around zones collecting items and crafting, this is one thing i wish WoW have.

I really miss WoW but i’m not going back, not yet, or maybe i’ll go back to Classic, i liked Classic because it was simple, Shadowlands with the many systems it have felt like work.

Anyway .. i don’t know where i’m going with this, i’m just frustrated with Blizzard.
