World of Warcraft: Shadowlands has its first major patch, Chains of Domination, available for pre-loading

Oh, hey there.

It feels like it’s taken a really, really long time for the first content patch to arrive for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. That would be because it has taken a really long time; specifically, it’s going to be right around eight months before release when all is said and done. But the patch is finally releasing on June 29th, and you know that the date here is being completely fixed in stone because the patch’s pre-release download is now available on the game’s client to get you ready.

Of course, that’s not to say that you won’t have to download anything when the patch itself arrives, but you’ll have to download far less if you get everything pre-loaded before the patch day. And, heck, it’s just nice to see the forward momentum after all of the wait for features like the changes to the Maw, the extended covenant campaign, and flying in the Shadowlands, right?

8 months of charging rent to players to tell them “yo time to spend another month of sub time to remake those legendaries” has thoroughly killed all interest in any of my friends jumping back in for this one. I really won’t be surprised to see Shadowlands become another 2 patch expansion because this team does not seem to want to adjust at this point which with WoW is usually a sign they are already planning to peace out on the expansion and start some new retention trap system in the next .0 update saying “this time it will catch them in the net”. Again.

Hate to find myself defending Blizzard on this but realistically it’s not a big deal to recraft legendaries in 9.1. Dust will be far easier to come by so really it just comes down to gold and even the worst case scenario there is down to 20K or so nowadays.

Now there are many more reasons to dislike Shadowlands and 9.1 but I just don’t think that this one is it.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice….. Just joking :D

Glad to see the patch finally being there i hope it is in a good enough shape so people can enjoy some new content after a rather long period of waiting!
