WRUP: Reasons I knocked down the statue in the front of your yard edition

Loser

The homeowners association says “no statues” and I take those rules very seriously, up to and including renting construction equipment to knock over statues when it is necessary. History will vindicate me.

The statue in question memorialized the 1984-1992 situation comedy Who’s The Boss?, which is morally reprehensible to me and left me with no choice but to pay a large amount of money to rent a front loader and drive it into your lawn, chewing up your grass, to knock over your statue. History will vindicate me.

I have spent ten months of my life learning how to properly operate a front loader after never believing that it would happen, rented one to knock down two statues, and at that point I was simply high on power. History will vindicate me.

What Are You Playing will vindicate me.

Bonus question: Is there anything you particularly dislike ordering online?

Andy McAdams: Oh who knows? Probably World of Warcraft, though I don’t think I’ve ever played a game who resented me as much as WoW does at the moment. The story about the new-old-blood coming back into Guild Wars 2 has me picking up my Mesmer to putz around again, and I’m still playing around in The Elder Scrolls Online. I don’t think any of the three would hold my attention if it was just them, but splitting my time between the three maybe I won’t get bored, maybe?

Bonus Question: I was going to say perishable food, but then I realized that I had a meal service for a while, which is effectively buying perishable food online. So that’s out. I guess I rarely order pants online?

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’ll be in Albion Online, Star Wars Galaxies Legends, and hopefully Crowfall this weekend. Actually, I will probably prioritize Crowfall. I’m coming up on the end of my premium sub in Albion, and I’m gonna have to decide whether I’m staying or going or breaking.

Perfume, shoes, and paint. I love shopping for these things, but inevitably, I’m going to get a weird scent, a funky fit, or a color with the wrong undertone!

Carlo Lacsina (@UltraMudkipEX, YouTube, Twitch): I’ll probably be playing Valorant when I get time. I probably won’t have time for a full game, but I’ll be knocking out some deathmatches to complete my battle pass! They have some sweet gun skins around and I’m even considering buying their newest Ruined King themed skinset. It might set me back like $90 but those skins look nice

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): It’s moar spaceships moar often, with some Elite Dangerous and Star Trek Online on deck, though I’ll also likely break it up with some more Final Fantasy XIV as well.

Definitely clothes, though specifically pants and shoes. Guy sizes seem uniform most of the time, but for whatever reason not every shoe size or pants waist size is a universal constant, which is annoying when at a physical store, let alone a digital one.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Honestly, I’m not sure just yet. I’ve accomplished most of what I want in FFXIV before the expansion at this point, the current state of WoW doesn’t exactly inspire me to dive in exuberantly, and those are my main options at this point. Maybe it’ll be a single-player sort of weekend for me.

I really hate buying groceries online, for a variety of reasons. They’re not great reasons, but it’s most down to just the tactile feel of browsing things.

Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I’ll be playing a little bit of the Dragon Bash festival in Guild Wars 2. I think the only things I have left to complete for the annual are the race events. But the majority of my time is going to be in Crowfall. This is the first post-release weekend so things are bound to be popping off!

Bonus: I don’t like ordering clothes online. You just know the fit is going to be terrible but I do it anyways.

Every Saturday, join the Massively OP community and staff for What Are You Playing, our roundup of what MMORPGs and other games we’re hoping to play this weekend (with a bonus question or two for our amusement). Tell us what you’re up to! Go off-topic! And don’t forget to have fun!

I’ve been enjoying the Steel Reign update in Fallout 76, combined with working through the new scoreboard. The storytelling in this game is pretty good. As much as I love this game, I can’t get any social interaction since the game only has voice. That’s led to looking for another MMO to play alongside it to get my social wants met.

With the release of Corsair, I started up BDO again. It didn’t grab me unfortunately as it was just more grinding, grinding…. grinding. >< The plan was to wait for next week's update to see how the new mansion system is as I love housing. I'm not sure it will work out for me, seeing as how my playstyle has shifted again and BDO isn't appealing anymore.

Along came the fence, finding myself weighing between FFXIV and ESO. The free log-in campaign going on swung me to FFXIV. As I was reading the forums and catching up on things, I learned about plug-ins! I quickly set up the way to play with plug-ins and the combo plug-in ended up being a game-changer. Like… drastically.

With the start of the last expansion, I struggled with the new complexity added to the game. Part of it was dealing with pain issues from all the button mashing, another part due to being hyper-focused on ability bars and missing bad stuff, and the frustration set in and I quit.

The complexity has been lowered quite a bit with the plug-in and I found myself enjoying my favorite class again, Summoner. (As a side note, the plug-ins don’t interact with the game; they’re client-side only.) I have accepted that my responses to things get slower the older I get, but with things like this, I can once again attempt group content. I’m going to try to find a disability-friendly company this time around as well. So… yeah! Looking forward to Endwalker.

Bonus question: Dolls. As a collector, I get incredibly frustrated when I order a doll and it arrives with face paint flaws, loose limbs, poorly-rooted hair, and a host of other factory defects. Years ago there was a market for flawed production line products in stores with drastic markdowns. Now, sellers buy up this cheap stock and sell it off as “new”. There isn’t much regulation in the industry anymore. I’ve had to get a browser plug-in that warns of sellers with shady history on eBay and Amazon, and I’ve also filtered out sellers that don’t offer refunds or have Prime shipping. It’s a damn learning process that frustrates me to no end. On the good side, I’ve gotten quite good at re-painting doll faces and fixing other little imperfections.

The only doll I had issues with that way is when I ordered Suigintou from the Rozen Maiden collection… >.>

For MMO’s right now I have been playing some BDO, I started a seasonal character (Sage) and will likely do some leveling there, I kind of want to play more ESO so I may do that. I tried out Dauntless yesterday and I do like it but I feel Monster Hunter World is a better game so I reinstalled that and will likely play that as well, Dark Alliance likely also. So that’s about it for gaming for me now, as usual subject to change at anytime, but probably that. Thank you, have a great weekend and week ahead.

I got the infamous mid-summer head cold on Tuesday, called out of work in a losing battle Thursday. Not even free time in front of the PC kept me out of bed. ESO Blackwood was a tour only lasting 3 weeks with companions, gear and content completed at a steady pace, yikes ZoS.. Please consider holding your expansion back for more initial content. Companions are still a great addition to take the game even further into a solo player supported gameplay experience, because who needs people in an MMO, right? Dropped my ESO sub and got back into FFXIV along with the wave of WoW players, working on getting into that sweet iL525-535 gear and a new relic weapon. The game is as busy as I’ve ever seen it. Guildwars 2 everyday for the dailies, organized world bosses.

Been watching the Ashes of Creation Alpha 1 streams and it honestly looks pretty well done. Lots to do and plenty of people to do it with. I’m just not into dropped $500 to join in so early. Probably the next big ‘solid’ MMORPG on the horizon.

So cold, I don’t know how some of you folks deal with like being snowed in or the such, because dealing with –1°C is bad enough for me lol, icy glass, frozen in pumps in the darkness of morning lol.
Too tired to play any games, I was meaning to finally get around to finishing the last chapter of Tell Me Why that Xbox published episodic game, but I didn’t get around to it.

I saw Black Widow last night, I’ve long been over the whole MCU thing a while ago but I still go because my friends are into the movies, I did like how this was had a different style to it,although it does the beg the question of the lack of a Black Widow film up to now, although I guess they wouldn’t have been able to as dark as they did compared to the earlier ones. Watching this with a kid beside me was interesting, thinking about how they must think of all this considering some of what comes up.

I’m mostly just happy for the director Cate Shortland, while undoubtably she’s the going to be latest in good Australian directors who’ll now no longer make Australian films anymore she was a great choice for Black Widow and when she was announced I remember there being some confusion online as folks didn’t know her, but I’ve seen Berlin Syndrome and I knew instantly that “oh yeah, she’d totally work” and she totally did! She did a great job adapting the script into her directorial style, the weaker parts to me was the obligational Marvel stuff. So, I’m hoping she won’t just become part of the Disney machine now, but I’m glad for her that Black Widow worked out well with her.

Oh and I unsubscribed from World of Warcraft again, I’m just not having any time to play it.

Bonus Question: Food, I never buy food online unless it’s a take-away order. If I want food, I’ll go down to the supermarket myself lol.

Sounds like you may not have lived in the cold that much. If so than remember to leave your faucets dripping so that the water in the pipes does not freeze causing them to burst when the ground or area in which any of the pipes run gets below the freezing point. It happened in a house I was in when I was young, makes the cold even less fun.

Coldest I think it can get here is 5-below zero Celsius, although that’s rare as it tends to be around zero or one-degree, so freezing point with ice and stuff, but I don’t think it’s really ever effected the pipes too much. I’m more used to with pipes that in summer that the water is like hot all the time even when on cold lol.

Why spend months of your life learning a useless skill like operating Front-End Loaders… When you can be like me, and raise a Monstie?! I took an online course, 3 months long, and I am now a Certified and Official Monstie Breeder. I don’t need a Loader when I have myself a healthy Testucabra! This bad boy is eco-friendly, efficient on fuel and hardly as finicky and prone to breaking down like some heap of junk.

It tore up three Bronze Statues of Urkel, one statue of Carlton mid-dance along with the concrete base buried in the ground it was stubbornly bolted to… Plus a Gold Robocop statue, and carried all of them at once to a nearby scrapyard whereupon I easily made back the cost of taking those lessons–and I have a Robocop statue now! Win-Win-Win-Win-Win-Big Win-Win-Win.

… Only issue is, it is illegal to own endangered or underpopulated animals, and… My buddy Tetsutetsubruh is very much a population of one. He also hasn’t had his shots, and he didn’t so much tear the yards up as he… dislodged massive chunks of earth, damaged pipes, and ruined a few cars as well as tanking the value of several streets worth of housing… so…

Very. Very Illegal.

So… maybe tack on a loss at the end… I’m breeding up a Paolumu to cross the border though, so… live free baby! Me and my Monsties will be Palumu way to Canada in no time and that is a Win! And by my count? That means a W-W-W-W-W-BW-W-W-W-L-W.

And while I’m waiting for my hot-air-balloon-fruitbat egg to hatch?

… Monster Hunter Stories 2. It is just jolly all around and I’m having a good bit of ‘me time’ single-player gaming for the moment. I picked up a few games from the Steam Sale as well, so I might be tempted to play a little of those but… I’m feeling pretty content! I’ve been eying and thinking of grabbing ‘Elder Lilies’ and maybe another metroidvania game or two as well, but especially for Elder Lilies I’m waiting for the PS4 release. I’ll probably cave, buy it on PC and then also buy it on PS4 like I did Hollow Knight… but… I’m holding out for the moment!

But… I also… just really want to play Silksong… And those will scratch that itch some.

Gaming – watching the qualies for Dota 2 TI.

I will not get to game for a while if all goes as scheduled next week. Looks like I will be moving, but where I am not even sure yet. I have some places in mind and a route somewhat in my head.

Still reading the Realm of the Elderings series and am well into the 2nd book of the LiveShips Traders trilogy. It starts quite differently than the 1st trilogy, but has since settled in to have some rewarding tie-ins.

Just finished Detroit: Become Human. Enjoyed it a lot, it has some great characters!

Bonus: books, because I don’t wanna see this nice tiny book store across my street go out of business.

This week: Two keyboards! One for each pigtail! (See: Related pic attached!)

…as one of my Birthday assignments this year was to replace my worn keyboard of my first years in WoW Vanilla with something I could once again read the letters stamped onto my keys. (All in pink too!) But since I also had money left over from said Bday budget, I got a second one. A little more musically orientated. But none of the less, I am satisfied with the upgrades…

“Err, how does the one on top work with games, Uta?”

…err, when I PvP, they’ll make music as I beat them? O.o

Also this week: More WoW! And apparently close to unlocking flying in Shadowlands I’m told. Go me!

Bonus Answer: Big expensive MIDI controllers. I like to curb side pick it up from the store instead during the purchase. (Also: See as for mentioned 2nd keyboard.) >.<

Have a great week and weekend folks! And please stay safe and get vaccinated! /bows

Brings back memories of the 1st time I was able to play with a sequencer. I found out about the seemingly limitless # of things that could be done with it. Then I figured out the amount of time I would have to spend to actually do some of them far exceeded what I had available at the time. Holey Poop! to sadness real quick.

The Keystep Pro (which is the 2nd/top keyboard) in question has 4 dedicated sequencers. As for what is does in the in detail, I’ll let Mr. loopop take it from here to explain this better…

Congrats on the new keyboards! Which one do you like better?

Reader
Utakata

Well, a pat answer…it’s depending what I am doing. When I’m gaming or talking here, obviously the pink one. When I’m poking at virtual synths and the musically whatnot, the Keystep is much better. <3

The simplest answer for that top keyboard is also the best.

How else could I win a PvP game while also playing ‘Take On Me’ and ‘The Final Countdown’ in the same beat? It’s my key to victory!

CoH and Battletech for now. PoE is on hold till the next league starts. I got enough challenges done to get the Ultimatum pet and I don’t like the league mechanic or the build I used enough to keep playing them just for the hell of it.

Bonus question: Fresh foods. I’ll trust my own opinion as to whether an apple meets my personal standards, thank you very much.

Playing SWTOR and focusing on Trooper class story, reached Tatooine today, leveling is too fast, i’m already level 40 without doing side quests or planet quests.

Bonus: The thing i dislike most is i have to wait for the online order to arrive, when i go shopping everything i bought comes with me!
