WRUP: Directions for homemade almond milk edition

52
This might be employed.

Ingredients: Almonds, milk

Directions: In a large saucepan, pour in your milk. Then pour in the almonds. See, it’s almond milk! Isn’t that clever? See, everyone laugh. Also, it’s now crunchy, because almonds are crunchy. Yes, this was all a setup for this joke.

Oh, Aidan, now’s the time you have to bring up your lactose intolerance? Jeez, Aidan, stop being such a drama queen. No one cares, Aidan! Look, we invite you to these events out of pity but we’re really pretty much done with it. No, don’t rush to the bathroom. Oh, real mature, Aidan! Crying in the bathroom while you make noises, that’s excellent.

Folks, can we just stop inviting Aidan to our What Are You Playing cooking parties? Seriously.

Bonus question: How many people share the space where your computer is located?

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Too many games and updates coming out. I’ve never been in this position before, but I’ve been playing Pokemon Go, Pokemon Unite, and just a little bit of New Pokemon Snap lately (if only the last one had real multiplayer!). That being said, Monster Hunter Stories 2 is gonna get the most attention. I finally got to the post game and… wow, so overwhelming. I haven’t felt like beating the game was so, “This is just the beginning” since Monster Hunter Tri.

My computer is in my room, so it’s a 1-Andrew operation. In rare cases, I may allow someone to sit on my bed for a bit to check something out, but for the most part, no other humans allowed.

Ben Griggs (@braxwolf): More EVE Online. I’ve just joined a corporation focused on industrial operations, so now my hobby really is a job. We’ll see what’s involved with asteroid mining and manufacturing. For the belt!

I’ve got a little office room with my work and gaming computers. Occasionally my daughter will come in and play Roblox or The Sims next to me, but I’m usually in here by myself. That’s what happens when your kids all reach the teen years and don’t want to hang around you any more

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’m wrapping things up in Albion Online over the next week or so, so I’ll be in there a bit, and I’m planning to dabble in Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars Galaxies Legends as usual. After that, not sure.

We arranged our house so that the front room is mostly a study with workspaces for my husband, me, and both our kids, so four. Our den is where normal humans would stick a dining room, and our kitchen has an eat-in bar. No room for formal dining or formal foyer here!

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Eh, this is going to be a review-heavy weekend for me, so not a whole lot of time to play MMOs. Not that I have a whole lot to do in Final Fantasy XIV at the moment anyhow, so that balances out all right.

My wife and I shared our office space for a long time, but we relocated her down into the den so now the upstairs office is mine and mine alone. As befits my space, it is covered in toys.

Every Saturday, join the Massively OP community and staff for What Are You Playing, our roundup of what MMORPGs and other games we’re hoping to play this weekend (with a bonus question or two for our amusement). Tell us what you’re up to! Go off-topic! And don’t forget to have fun!

Grats! First one kicked my ass, second was easy sailing. The opposite of most. Hopefully you feel fine and can get some gaming in.

I got nothing for now, besides my arm hurting like hell.

For me it was 24 hours of high pain, low mobility, then 24 hours of low pain with most of the mobility restored, and then around 12 hours of very slight pain. Same for both 1st and 2nd shot. Slept an hour or two more than usual for the bettr part of a week

Congrats!

You’ve probably seen current reporting on the COVID-19 Delta variant’s increased contagiousness and virulence. You won’t have the Pfizer vaccine’s full benefits till two weeks after the second dose, so please beware.

So if “crocodile” is meant as a measure of imperviousness to infection, I’d say you’re more of a caiman at this point?

I meant as a jab.

I have to share this story because i can’t even. So, before the investigation came that put out that Bolsonaro was delaying all the other vaccines so he could hyper-charge the prices of one specific company, he was giving all kinds of excuses of why he was denying to buy the vaccines.

One of those was, and i shit you not: “I’m not taking something that could, who knows, turn you into a crocodile. We don’t know what these things do”. It’s a fucking vaccine. What the hell does he think it does? But yeah, it was pure insanity before, as of now, it just sounds like he’s a second-rate crook.

So, the crocodile/alligator joke here is quite popular. :P

Oh, i also won’t break quarentine. The country isn’t nearly vaccinated enough for me to pretend everything is fine. It’s not.

Tough call on whether mutagenic vaccine claim is stupider than recommendation to ingest bleach, shove UVC lights into orifices… you can’t make this stuff up!

Had a bit of a sad realization just now, I haven’t played anything today, downloaded Bless then uninstalled it, downloaded LotRO logged in and had a visceral aversion to the dated graphics and uninstalled at the menu.

Spent 6 hours watching first time reader podcasts of the Wheel of Time where this guy’s wife shared her impressions of the books while subconsciously wishing I was having this conversation with my wife instead (sent her the files, she hasn’t read them even though she’s read some real shitty books Amazon gives away for free through Kindle Unlimited and the fact that she can read circles around me, maybe I shouldn’t feel bitter about it but I kind of do).

At least I have Vodka.

I’ve got a friend that’s reading these books for the first time so I’ve been Facebook Messaging him, but still I wish my wife were interested in something I enjoyed other than our cats.

Sorry about feeling sorry for my self, but you guys are my social circle other than my revolving door of Staff at my Hospital (HAHAHAHA they call us family, but when they leave you NEVER hear from them again).

What kind of vodka? I recommend Chopin from Poland, made from potatoes as the gods intended.

After giving FF14 a fair old go and realizing it’s not for me (story locked behind dungeons), I’m back with ESO. Currently raising antiquities and going through Wrothgar.

Since I ran out of data I eschewed online and just played a very fast game of pinball at little caesars. Those balls come out fast. They are bouncy balls in fact but not super bouncy. In fact the ball went straight from the dispenser to the hole. Yup. No chance to even put my hand on the buttons. Its not a pinball machine per se but it kinda is except for the aforementioned unbounciness. Did not play galaxy of heroes or kotor 2 due to aforementioned data stinginess.
Nine cats share my compuspace except its just two androids and a cd boombox with Bluetooth. I sold my desktop and will return to swtor when i get hired again. I mean life day is coming up in only 18 weeks and feast of prosperity in 12.

So is this not-really-a-pinball-machine a metophor for what Little Caesar’s serves as being not-really-piza?

This week: Playing Roll 20 of Humblewood Online.

Also this week: Also playing Lyn and Soul moar extensively.

Bonus Answer: Just myself and the pigtails.

Have a great week and weekend folks!

And please stay safe and get vaccinated. As well as, the Delta Variant is not a name of an airline company, in case folks missed that. >.<.

Unlike the “airline”, the Delta version of COVID-19 is better than its peers at doing its job?

Bless Unleashed. Yes, MMO fans, it’s a hoot. I think of it more as a hack n slasher rather than an MMO. But for a casual MMO, it works. I’ve never liked BDO, it’s too noisy and demanding and convoluted, so Bless’s combo combat hits the sweet spot for me in a world where the story is just there to get you to the next fight. Perfect.

Inquisitor: Martyr. Continuing with my TechAdept pet build, which is wiping the floor with anything 6+ levels above. Got my major Psalm-Codes and most of my desired passives. Just working now on gear so I can reach that magic milestone of being able to clear maps 10 levels above me.

Kingdoms for relaxation. A pleasant builder game still in Early Access but making some great strides forward of late. Gather, build, farm, sell, do quests, found a settlement, wage war against other settlements, hunt. Pretty much an open sandbox.

Bonus question: My desk is in the bay window of our small apartment. My husband’s desk is behind me in our main room, which is not at all square, having 5 walls. We’re both introverts and have no trouble spending the entire day at our computers in our own world, together.

Your apartment has 5 walls, do you live in a Pentagram; I’m not judging I’m just curious how this all works, like is it a studio, is there a small kitchenette off one of the 5 walls, is it 5 walls because you have a small triangle shaped bathroom, what kind of a bed do you have that fits in a 5 wall setup in a small apartment?

How do you define small, I live in a singlewide trailer that has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, that’s just short of 1,000 sqft?

Is the UI in Bless PC friendly, watched a 6 month old Lazypeon video, he said the UI was clunky because it was designed for consoles, he also said you had to go into a menu to scroll in or out?

Okay, fair questions. It’s in a Victorian that survived the 1906 earthquake. It’s on the ground floor in what used to be the stables but was built out after the earthquake. So, nothing is square. Everything is cobbled together, parts of things that don’t quite go together, nothing on the level, and lots of molding that doesn’t match. Call it charming. One corner of the main room is not a square corner but goes cross angles to hide whatever it was that was there before. So, yes, 5 walls in the main room and the kitchen, hiding the same mysterious whatever. Other 2 rooms safely have 4 walls and right angles. Our landlord says he has nightmares about our building and finding lost rooms. I say if he does find an extra room, may we have it?

Reader
Bryan Correll

Ah, it’s a frankenhouse.

Fisty

I think I’d start searching behind the 5th wall to find what was hidden. Maybe meet a neighbor, find a crypt, secret tunnel to a treasure horde?

Weird angles formed by walls put me in mind of H.P. Lovecraft tales, so maybe leave the walls alone…

Reader

He probably has nightmares about the building falling apart and having your family file a wrongful death lawsuit lol.

The UI was a nightmare in the early tests. It’s probably not going to win any design awards but it does what it needs to without getting in your way.
There are sadly a few exceptions to this. Often times the rewards for killing bosses is a chest that you can open at your leisure (this is nice so you don’t get your bags filled with junk without you realizing), and most times you can inspect the box to see what it could contain but other times that’s not possible.
The interface for finding a guild is a straight up nightmare.
5 guilds per page and they’re sorted by member count in ascending order meaning you have to flip through 40+ pages to find one with more than 1 member. You can’t search and you can’t change the sorting. You can filter but the filter tags are not very helpful.
If you need a guild find one out of game and send an ingame whisper for invite instead.

If you look at the layout and structure of the UI you can tell it was made for controller usage, but they put in enough effort that I can think of several pc-first or pc-only mmos with much worse UI

I’ve been at a loss for a game that can draw me in. I built a geothermal-backed nuclear complex in Satisfactory, but I can’t be assed to go back and make it look pretty. Dipped back into Baldur’s Gate 3 but development seems to be stagnant there.

The past few evenings I’ve attempted some Stellaris, but no matter what ideology I start with I just know I’m going to cheese spawn Wyrm In Waiting and steamroll the map so haven’t made it beyond save-scumming an optimized start.

All the ugly gaming news has unsettled me more than a bit. I really don’t know what to play.

Picked up a copy of Skyrim for Switch at the outdoor flea market today. 5 bucks. I’m sitting next to the waterfall & creek I built this week, playing Skyrim, again. Love it. I log into SWTOR for my auctions every night. Sold an armor set for a half a billion last night, that felt good. Cept for those GTN taxes. 40 mil. Oof.

Bonus: PC is in the bedroom, which is basically a living room too. It’s so much cooler in there. So, the two of us I guess. We only use the den, living room, dining etc. for when people are here or when cooking dinner. The rest of the time is outdoors or the extreme bedroom AC.

My setup got my 13 year old nephew’s seal of approval yesterday when he saw it for the first time and I’ve never felt more validated in my life. My brother(his dad)gave me the thumb’s up when he saw how he reacted.

One of the things I enjoyed about Path of Exile was making fun builds to play or making funky build ideas work. I didn’t mind if it wasn’t top tier just as long as it was fun to play.

Now since I stopped playing PoE I have been looking for something to give me something similar and unexpectedly I found it in The Division 2.

Once you dig into it there is a surprising amount build diversity for the various types of content. I don’t imagine the builds I am coming up with are top tier or haven’t been done a bazillion times. Still I am having fun figuring it all out and farming up the gear.

I have also been playing The Ascent and having fun with it for the most part. It’s kind of like a cross between an arpg and a twin stick shooter with some interesting game mechanics. It’s not perfect and has a few UI issues (small text and overbearing red ui colour) that make it hard for me to play for a long time.

I did try Microsoft Flight Simulator and it’s a good simulation but it’s not for me. For a few reasons but mainly i don’t have the time to dedicate to do it justice. The other big reason is it’s just a huge installation taking up nearly a third of my available disk space just with the base game.

Hades releases on Xbox next week so hoping I can find some time for that. Stay safe, be kind and enjoy your gaming (wear your masks and get your jabs.)
