The Daily Grind: How many MMOs have you played this summer so far?

I’ve always seen the summer as a time to branch out and get in as much MMORPG gaming as possible, especially with all of the extra releases and launches that tend to happen in this corridor. The fall? The fall is a time to go back to old favorites and settle into comfort zones.

Anyway, so far this summer I’ve played only three MMOs: LOTRO, WoW Classic, and Final Fantasy XIV. I’m hoping to get in some Book of Travels and Ship of Heroes before the month is through, however.

What about you? How many MMOs have you played this summer so far? Betas, early access, and dabbling counts!

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

Four…. CoH (Homecoming), alpha/beta for New World, alpha for Ship of Heroes, and the alpha for Ashes of Creation.

Err, one, the only correct answer.

Any more and you are doing it wrong.

Impressive. What is the only mmo that is able to meet all your mmo needs and wants this summer?

Not many..

But a few changes lately:
-new PC! so trying a bunch (FFXIV, SWTOR, that Bless whatever etc)
-new phone! so got into Marvel Future Revolution ‘mmo’
-I’m keeping my eye out more for MMOs than earlier

Such a new world. I can play Black Desert! The upcoming games! ESO on max??

Albion Online
Eve Online

Eve is the new summer game for me. Having fun with all three :)

Only one, Crowfall, during the final beta test.

FFXIV is the obvious main. I did dabble in Albion. I think it does what it does well, but ultimately I don’t have time for it to shine for me. I also had a coworker get obsessed with GW2 so I booted it up, but I still don’t really like it so it was very short lived.

I’ve played four this summer so far.
ESO: I’m subbed, I play it about an hour most days, a little more lately as a couple of my friends U.S side have been playing it lately so I’ve been playing with them some.
STO: I have a lifetime, I mostly log in for the events and sometimes to play but I have 28 max level characters so not really much new for me to do in it, and as much as I enjoy the space combat the game has a literal bucket of issues both new and old.
LOTRO: Again one of my U.S buddies started playing it recently so I was playing with him, but this is another game I have a lifetime too and have been playing it on and off for the whole 14 years and counting. Fantastic game less so once it went F2P, which is pretty much easy mode with heavy grind elements and cash shop, but there remains however a lot to love about this sadly now dated game.
Swords of Legends I liked the look of it, visually it is gorgeous and the music is great, gameplay however is fairly no thrills and the story is generic Eastern fantasy. It has potential but whether it is built upon remains to be seen.

Stormsong Minstrel
Stormsong Minstrel

One and only LOTRO. Enjoying my Beorning, even if sometimes under-equipped Beorn gets defeated by mobs (lucky, not Goblins!).
Tried to find anything else to play…found nothing. A pity.

Just doing the never-ending “Special Event” (that never ends, and isn’t special) in Star Trek Online. And Warframe, even though I know there’s a couple readers who will grind their teeth to dust at the idea of calling it an MMO. ^-^ Other than those, I don’t really play online games. I suppose maybe of little bit of “Deep Rock Galactic,” under the same qualifications as for Warframe. (I do have to be connected to Online to play it, even though I set my missions to solo mode so I can have Bosco to help and just take my time exploring.)

This summer I’ve been moving cross country. So far it’s taken five weeks, and the moving company says our household is still in a warehouse where we started.

So I haven’t had much leisure time. At most a half hour every other day in STO, LotRO, or ESO.

Once we’re not living in hotel rooms, I plan to try SOLO.
