WRUP: Pinball scoring guide

Multiball Frenzy: Hit all seven of the rear bumpers to activate multiball, which doubles your score.

Multiball Disappointment: Hit three of the rear bumpers and then totally fail to hit more despite frantically hitting the machine with both hands to activate multiball anyway but have your score halved because screw you.

Bumper Upgrades: Hit the side bumpers three times to upgrade the front bumpers. Each upgrade doubles their point values. Hit the front bumpers four times to upgrade the side bumpers. Each upgrade halves their point values, because how are you getting back there, you jerk? You’re tilting the machine.

Tilt Bonus: Tilting the machine earns quadruple points if the manager has to yell at you.

Hammer Frenzy: Realizing you just wasted $50 on trying to max out your score here activates Hammer Frenzy, in which you try to smash the damn game with a hammer and then talk about it in What Are You Playing. This doubles your points, then triples it, then multiplies the final value by 0 because points are made up.

Bonus question: What’s your favorite breakfast meal?

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): It’s so weird to be an adult with all these Pokemon game options. Go to help me keep losing the COVID calories (and gaining some spooky themed Pokemon), a Master-ranked Pokemon Unite player took me under their wing for random ranked matches so I gotta earn my keep, and I really feel like I gotta at least do a level or two in New Pokemon Snap. The new Monster Hunter Stories 2 content’s kicked my butt pretty hard, so I’ll train up a bit for that.

Oh man, pancakes are just the best. I eat a lot of eggs and granola, but if I’m gonna cheat, it’s gonna be a stack of flapjacks, with butter and syrup between each layer.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Queue World, of course! I rerolled on a low-queue New World server, actually, and have already caught up to where I was on the original server, so I’ll do that some more. We’re also still building the deck IRL, so I’ll have plenty of chores too, but games in between.

Favorite breakfast is hard. Breakfast is my favorite period. Does it have to be realistic? I’d go mad without eggs. Any eggs, any way. If calories count for nothing, then french toast, but like, really good french toast, on good fluffy bread, with butter and syrup so rich it shouldn’t even be legal.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I would like to say I’ll be playing New World, but the weekend queues are likely only going to get worse instead of better. Maybe I’ll be able to squeeze into my chosen server in-between my two jobs when most people aren’t playing. That gives me a little time to do some random gathering and crafting and exploration. Otherwise, I’ll likely just gear up my Dancer in Final Fantasy XIV or pootle around in a spaceship in Elite Dangerous.

I’ll be honest, my favorite breakfast meal is pretty much garbage: a sausage egg and cheese bagel from Dunkin’, along with whatever coffee may strike my fancy when I’m there. What can I say? I love the big chonky breakfast sandwich.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): So the media tour got me all excited for Final Fantasy XIV again (it was always just below the surface), so I’ll be finding some edge cases of stuff to do before the expansion and getting that out of the way.

Nothing beats a nice corn beef hash, hash browns, and some nice fluffy french toast for a breakfast. Well, aside from not eating a day’s worth of calories in one meal, but compromises are what they are.

Mia DeSanzo (@neschria): Unlike everyone else, I won’t be playing New World at this time. I might play Genshin Impact to appease the teen in my house. I almost certainly will put more time into my very last No Man’s Sky Steam achievement. I can ignore achievements when I have 3 out of 74, but when there’s only one left, I feel compelled to do it.

Breakfast? I like a croissant and coffee. Or a fried egg on toast with coffee. I am not complicated.

Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I’ll largely be playing New World. I’ve been trying for several days but I think the server queue is simply too long for this old boy. So I’ll give in and find a new server. I think my Crowfall guild has coordinated on a server so I’ll probably head that way unless it’s too full as well. On the single player game front I’ve been having way more fun than I imagined playing Curse of the Dead Gods. It’s basically Hades but replace Greek mythology with Aztec.

Bonus: For breakfast give me some Greek yogurt with a dollop of almond butter mixed in. Sounds kind of weird but it’s so good!

Tyler Edwards (blog): New World, queues permitting. Plus I got a D&D session.

Bonus question: Didn’t we do this question pretty recently? Anyway, my go-to is a slice of toast with peanut butter. I don’t have much appetite in the mornings.

This weekend, for reasons beyond my control, I absolutely can’t play any game that I can’t pause, which unfortunately means almost everything that is online and even many offline games are out of question, including a couple offline games I had been playing on and off this week (why the heck do devs make offline games that can’t be paused?). So I took a look at my backlog and I’m currently playing some of the Lego games I hadn’t played before (The Incredibles and DC Super-Villains), with perhaps a bit more of Surviving Mars for when I want something slower.

Pre Expansion gil farming in XIV. I’ve found one item people use to level a lot of crafting recipes nobody is using i can easily make HQ versions of to sell for 1.2-1.5mil per stack and you can get the mats from like 20-30 minutes farming. Its not crazy money which i believe right now is all in housing furniture but its just farming a single 6 node, 3 point route in Ahm Areng for easy gil once or twice per day. Don’t want to flood the market just throw up enough i check in with Feo Ul for the Gil once per day.

I’m waiting on Alan Waker Remastered to arrive. Love the game and Remedy in general and i’m interested to see what the version with Microsofts infamous interference looks like. Maybe we will see some Control related changes since Controls AWE dlc really cements that it is the game set between AWR and AW2 in the same universe. I’ve been a huge fan of Sam Lakes work since Max Payne and love or hate the games in general the worlds and characters he makes feel like what i think Swery65 could do if he was more competent a writer.

Aside from more Monster Hunter Rise for the new event quests thats about it for videogames.

In tabletop however i got some expansion books for Call of Cthuluhu as my friends are, surprisingly, getting into it so i just got a book about driving around new england in the 20’s and running into dank shit off the road and should give me some good ideas for Halloween small town mystery games this month.

Also after not touching them since my mum got me some back in 1999 for christmas i got some Orks for Warhammer 40k. I really grew out of the whole “metal album cover football hooligan” orks they just aren’t for me. But they have recently brought out a new sub culture -or kultur- of orks called “Beast Snagga Boyz” and the only way i can describe them is “what if orkz and squigs spawned on a world comparable to the setting of Horizon Zero Dawn?”. Which means savage tribal dudes with bits of robots and machines used as armour.

No guesses what IP will inspire my paintjobs on these.

It’s been a strange week, all-around:

Fallout76: I did the stupidest thing, ever! Woke up on a day off and after scouting out locations for a 2nd camp build that I envisioned being a “Fall/Halloween build”, I changed my mind and went back to another location. I enabled my first camp for a free travel point, ran off to get coffee and sat down to create the build… only to find out I had accidentally scraped my main camp build. I’m not going to lie, I cried when I realized what I had done.

It took a day to get over my horror and realized that it ended up being a positive. My main camp build was full of bad glitches, due to inexperience, that I had been unable to fix. Starting over is allowing me to fix all those issues through the 2nd camp. My main camp was largely blueprinted, but I can’t set it back down again due to… glitches! Hah! I’ll have to contact support to remove that massive build that can’t be placed down. I’ll deal with that later. One bad thing at a time!

Guild Wars 2: Been working on the Skyscale and came up against a wall I can’t leap over atm, and that’s being stuck on a jumping puzzle to get a scale. I don’t know anyone that plays GW2 anymore and after a zone shout-out for help that went ignored, I decided to hop to another thing.

I went back to Dry Top and started working on the Return to achievements. Got through DT1, but came to a grinding halt in the DT2 return to achievements due to my inability to get through another jumping puzzle. Feeling pretty discouraged right now, but haven’t given up yet. I parked a character at the puzzle and log in every day to try and get through it. It’s been 3 days and still unable to do it. I’m really bad at jumping puzzles.

Bonus Question: I got my blood work back and have extremely high cholesterol and will be going on Statin (think that’s the spelling?) today. This is a first for me and I realized this is probably due to the change over to the Keto diet, which has a lot of fat intake. After an internet search, looks like I added a lot of bad fat into my diet.

What I was eating until yesterday for brekkie was a cup of coffee with full fat cream, one egg with spinach, a cup of almond milk, two slices of hard cheddar cheese and 3 slices of bacon. Today I’ll be removing the full-fat cream, one of those slices of cheese, and replacing pork bacon with turkey bacon.

Good luck my Keto friend.

Today was a cook day for me and I thought about your plight much while going through those motions. I have spent so much time reading, searching, and learning what I can handle over the last few months myself. I wish you godspeed in finding what will work all around for you. As you well know, we are all different and there is no “one for all” solution. Good Luck!

This week: It appears the pigtails are contentious as ever when it comes posting to things that are not sitting right on the internets with them. They don’t win any popularity contest, that’s for sure…but couldn’t live with themselves if they played the game of /placate.

Also this week: I still haven’t determined if the UE4 engine is a fresh paint job on an older Lyn & Soul or an actual improvement. I suppose with particle effects and flowing robes there is a degree of improvement. While the lag and performance issues have shifted to other parts of the game, as well as not improved at all when it comes to crowd waypoint hubbing. Nor has the invisible walls galore disappeared. Ad infinitum. Ad nauseam…

…I can say, I do miss the crispness and clarity of the game pre-UE4 for all it faults. Any temp to replicate that just makes the game performance near untenable. So I guess I have to play the game via staring through the bottom of a Coke bottle for now. /sigh

But I did managed to get things working a bit better and smoother now! o.O

Bonus Answer: A glass of orange juice, Marmite on hot buttered toast, followed by apple and/or banana slices.

Have a great week and weekend folks. Don’t be Alberta, stay safe and get vaccinated. /bows

Little bit of GW2, little bit of LOTRO, mostly dipping my toe into Valheim for the first time. Soooo atmospheric.

My SWTOR sub ended just after I finished the Fallen Empire stuff. I’ll probably resub just before the expansion drops to check out the Onslaught stuff, but I feel I’m all SWTOR’d out for not.

Still taking my time through the new Life is Strange. Three chapters down, and man… this one is getting really interesting. I can definitely see myself giving this one another playthrough in pretty short order in order to see some of the other routes.

Not sure what I’ll be playing in my free time this week. Might pick up Kena: Bridge of Spirits, or I might spend some time on a solo ARK: Survival Evolved server (been watching my nephew play has given me a bit of a hankering to get back into that for a while).

That does it for me this week. Stay safe out there, and have some fun.

Playing DDO, reached The Harbor and i still don’t understand how the talent tree works or the whole combat system, i just swing a sword and that’s enough to kill mobs.

Bonus: pancakes, which i don’t eat often, it’s a treat that i only eat few times a year, when i go for a road trip or go to a coffee shop, which i haven’t done even before covid.

Just resist the urge to multiclass and you’ll be fine. Probably.

I guess I will just jump on this New World bandwagon. Why not? It’s fun to party with others. It’s inktober, so I am trying to get into a daily habit again, which means I might go draw instead of gaming a lot this month.

Bonus; Fried chicken or porkchops, biscuits, gravy, fried hashbrowns & onions, fried eggs, and fried apples. Strawberry jam. Milk. OJ.

I want to, how ever I have concerns regarding the PVE.

I just did it. If there is a time go play, it is when a million others are discovering it too. Join the bandwagon. Show the world MMOs can be popular again Give Bezos money. Embrace it all.

SmiteDoctor

From what I’ve heard there’s lvl 60 content in the pipeline, it seems as though the PVE experience is more focused around crafting and finding better recipes to tweak your build; so I guess you could avoid PVP perhaps.

Yeah, I dont get the hype either. It is a find your own fun survival to me, but I love me a crafting game with housing, so it’ll do.

I caved, I bought the game.

Lots of FF14 as we’re working on Shadowbringers and I’m leveling up so many jobs. Crafting/gathering is murder on my inventory.

Some progress on Dusk as I’m on the secret level of the 3rd episode that you reach by flushing yourself down a toilet in a secret room after you have the red key for that level…

Just finished up more PvZ:GW2 quests. I don’t play the game that many hours these days, but do at least login every day and get those quests done.

Bonus Question: chocolate fudge Pop-Tarts but I haven’t had them in years! XD

New World – did not think I would like it, but here I am along with everyone else.

Books: Fitz and the Fool trilogy, first book down and on to the 2nd. Gonna miss new tales in this world, and these characters, when I am done.

Also, pumpkin spice x was the first made up FOMO BS.

Hell, I even love looking at some of the maps people have come up with from the series. There are some real good ones out there.
