If for no other reason, play New World for the housing… my little place in Brightwood, complete with random pirate drops from mobs and those wonderful housing trophy buffs.

It’s not an MMO. But existing in the state of “watching other people have fun with a game” is kind of how I interact with Minecraft at this point. I’ve barely played it in over a year. (And now that it requires a Microsoft account I’m strongly considering abandoning it rather than switch over.) But I’m “Subscribed” to most of the current members of Hermitcraft, and watch their videos as time allows.

I used to watch a number of creators who made similar content for Ark, although now there’s basically only one. The others moved on to newer games to please the algorithm, or they play with a bazillion mods. (I barely use mods, and find that I don’t really care what the game is like if you mod it so hard it turns into almost a totally different game.)

And yes, I think there is a bit of automatic selection bias in asking about that during a gaming news podcast. ( ^-^ )

LOTROs Haunted Burrow, my very first LOTRO event many years ago. I agree with Justin, it’s like going home.

I thought occurred to me regarding the LI signposting. A simple email to characters (like they do sometimes when new content drops) directing people to the instructions could be a big help for now. I had a good LI experience and am happy with the result, but I was well informed due to the efforts of other LOTRO community members. In the long run, I feel LOTRO is going in a positive direction.

I’ve spent way, way WAY too much time over the years trying to get the Hallowe’en mount fr om the Haunted Burrow.

Yeah, I get nostalgic for LOTRO every single time Justin talks about Treebeard and how chill it is, where no one is in a hurry and everyone is full of rainbow hugs. I’m considering resubbing tonight, but I’ll sleep on it.

The Lotro talk giving me FOMO, i checked the cosmetics available on the fall event, now i’m going to download Lotro … happy now?! :-)

Book of Travel is delightful, all the details makes it so different from anything else, like rolling on random gear, why this is not a thing in more games? the wandering is something i enjoy, doing that and find random stuff to do, i like that.

I get that same pull for games like LOTRO by listening to this podcast, and I only ever barely touched that game.

One might say Justin and Bree are… influencers. *Quickly ducks for cover*

They kind of are though. I mean, it’s not the main objective, and it’s not the same as a youtuber who makes a living getting sponsored to play a game and shriek at the smallest jumpscare. But I’ve gotten a couple of games based on articles here, either based on the strength of the description or just calling my attention to a thing I didn’t know existed.

“Drake Hollow” would be one of those. It’s a game I apparently noticed on Steam at some point, wishlisted… and then entirely forgot it even existed until one of the staff here played it and wrote an article describing it in more detail.

And it’s all on the strength of the game. SSG won’t even send press releases. :P When a studio doesn’t deserve its own fans… hehe.
