It's all the money we don't have!

This little bundle of news is for those who like whimsical online CCGs or remasters of old ARPGs that are full of bugs. We’re talking, of course, about Hearthstone and Diablo II: Resurrected, both of which have some updates that they’d like to share with their fans.

First in Hearthstone, the game’s next patch update has been announced, which will include a new mini-set for United in Stormwind that will focus on the Deadmines, bringing 35 unique new cards featuring Pirates and new tradeable synergies. This patch will also add new mercenaries and bounties to Mercenaries mode, new heroes to Battlegrounds mode, and a variety of card adjustments. The link above offers specifics on what’s new, while the patch will arrive on Tuesday, November 2nd.

As for D2R, the devs have posted an update on the forums regarding what they’re focusing on, and as you might expect, it’s all about fixing things. Adjustments include having saves happen more frequently on regional servers instead of global ones to alleviate database stress, an update that will provide a rough timer for how long players can expect to be in a queue, and the promise of “significant” bug fixes and feature updates that will be discussed soon.

Activision-Blizzard is considered a controversial company in the MMO and gaming space owing to a long string of scandals over the last few years, including the Blitzchung boycott, mass layoffs, labor disputes, and executive pay fiasco. In the summer of 2021, the company was sued by the state of California for fostering a work environment riddled with sexual harassment and discrimination, the disastrous corporate response to which has further compounded Blizzard’s ongoing pipeline issues and the widespread perception that its online games are in decline. As of fall 2021, multiple state and federal agencies are currently investigating the company.
