New World disables ‘all forms of wealth transfer’ in the wake of a new gold dupe exploit

Good grief, really??

Another day, another exploit in New World – the latest is apparently a gold duping exploit.

“We are aware of a possible gold duplication exploit that has been circling and we are temporarily disabling all forms of wealth transfer between players (ie. sending currency, guild treasury, trading post, player to player trading),” Amazon announced this afternoon. “Any player that has engaged in the use of this exploit will be actioned against. Once the gold duplication exploit has been investigated and we are ready to turn on wealth transfer again, we will update this post.”

The bug is one of a long list to plague the one-month-old MMORPG in recent weeks; just last week, we covered an issue in the game that was allowing players to grief using code injection in chat. Once again, the game’s subreddit and forums are filled with people reporting the exploit and suggesting increasingly harsh punishments for folks who just can’t seem to stop exploiting. According to players on the official forums, the dupe involves taking advantage of lag and connection issues to duplicate gold in trades.
