Riot Games is continuing its cavalcade of announcements and reveals this week. First, the company’s Riot Forge division revealed another League of Legends spinoff, this one a “fast-paced rhythm runner” called Hextech Mayhem. It’s obviously not an MMO or even multiplayer, so we likely won’t be mentioning it again here, but it does feature League’s Ziggs as its chief protagonist. Antagonist. Both, really. It’s hard to tell with Ziggs. It’s up for prepurchase on Steam for 10 bucks as of today.

Meanwhile, the studio is talking up Legends of Runeterra’s Path of Champions, which is essentially a PvE mode for the game, launching tomorrow.

“The Path of Champions is Legends of Runeterra’s brand new PvE adventure mode coming in patch 2.19.0 on November 10 at 10AM~ PT. Travel across Runeterra as one of your favorite champions, conquer unique encounters, earn and equip powerful Relics, recruit allies, and upgrade your champion like never before to take on all-new challenges. To celebrate Riot x Arcane, a special set of adventures are available in Piltover & Zaun, featuring fully-voiced & animated comics, as well as branching narrative choices to add storyful depth and flair to the regions’ inhabitants.”

Riot Games is considered a controversial company in the gaming world following a 2018 exposé of the sexual discrimination and harassment inherent in what workers described as its “bro culture.” The scandal brought forth accusations against multiple developers and high-ranking executives and ultimately led to a developer labor dispute and walk-out. Lawsuits from former workers and the state of California, which has alleged that Riot is refusing to cooperate with its investigation, are ongoing.
