Dungeons and Dragons Online kicks off a new permadeath server run next week

Are you ready to die kicking and screaming and cursing the lag gods for your failure — and then find yourself unable to resurrect your character? That’s the joy of permadeath, my friends, and it’s coming back to Dungeons and Dragons Online next week!

Standing Stone Games announced that it’s kicking off the fifth Hardcore League season on December 1st with a two-month run to end on February 1st, 2022 – a bit shorter than past runs. This time around, players can try to survive as long as they can to earn sashes, cloaks, a Blood Reaper pet, and the coveted “bloody footprints” cosmetic from the first season, which is causing a bit of controversy among the playerbase that thinks this exclusive should’ve stayed an exclusive.

The good news is that even if you die, it’s not quite the end: “When the Hardcore League ends, players will have a limited time to transfer any character from the Hardcore Server to any of the existing DDO servers of their choice — even characters who have died. These dead characters will miraculously find their way out of the Land of Lost Souls to reenter the world of the living and resume play like a normal character. It is not possible to transfer a character from another world to the Hardcore League.”
