The Daily Grind: Which MMO has the brightest future in 2022?

In years past, we’ve run a “most innovative” and “most potential” award, but today, I want to focus on the “most potential” part because let’s be real: Most MMORPGs do not launch at peak quality. Most of them take a year or even multiple years to grow into something people can’t wait to play. If they’re lucky, they have the time, money, and players to do that. The unlucky ones, well…. they end up in our sunset list.

Personally, I’m hoping Crowfall ends up in the former bin rather than the latter. I think it has and had a lot of interesting PvP potential that nobody else in the MMORPG space is doing, systems that simply haven’t been realized because it came out before it was finished baking and never got a proper marketing campaign. And while it may be a longshot, it’d be awesome if it broke out of its rut and took off. It would just suck if it all went to waste. I don’t want it to end up like WildStar or Rend. But so much rides on its new owner actually capitalizing on it.

Of course, I can think of a few others I’d put on my “huge potential” list. How about you – which MMO has the most future potential? Which MMO has the brightest future in 2022?
