The Daily Grind: Are there places you linger in MMOs just to listen to the soundtrack?

In my years of both playing MMORPGs and talking with other players, I’ve noticed a trend among some of us where we’ll find ourselves dragging our feet before leaving a zone or revisiting special spots in the game — just because those places have a killer score.

It’s why I’ll be delighted to hang out in World of Warcraft’s Dun Morogh, Lord of the Rings Online’s Shire, or Guild Wars 2’s Hoelbrak, as all of those places feature some of my all-time favorite pieces of music. If there’s an earworm going on, hey, look at that, I’ve now come up with sixteen excuses to hang around for a little while longer.

Are you like this? Are there places you linger in MMOs just to listen to the soundtrack? And no, there are no cookies being given out for the first person to comment, “I always turn the soundtrack off!” You already know you’re something special.

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
