Old School RuneScape discusses potential mid-bosses and shares rough update timelines

Several devs of Old School RuneScape came together to answer player questions during a livestream earlier this month, but if you happened to have missed the original broadcast, then this recently shared summary has you completely covered – no VOD necessary!

On the gulf between early and late-stage endgame: The devs are considering introducing some form of mid-boss encounters, though they don’t outright note a plan for this form of content, and there are points to consider such as high-end players simply farming out middle-end content for rewards to cash out. Overall, the whole concept appears to have perked several ears.

On skill cape perks: These could see some adjustment, though once more there are several other things that the team has to consider, such as making sure a maxed-out skill cape isn’t too powerful; the topic effectively launched a lot of discussion about the system.

On the topic of the PJ timer for Wilderness zones: One of the devs noted that fundamental issues for the Wilderness need to be addressed first and foremost and that the PJ timer’s effect on the area needs more time to form, though this doesn’t necessarily mean that PK’ing is being done away with wholesale. Jagex does have a dedicated PvP team in place and more tweaks are promised.

Other points of note: Poll 76 changes are coming soon, likely at the end of the current league; there upcoming plans to adjust Runecrafting and Smithing skills while making sure not to apply too many Slayer updates; the devs confirm potential for more quest backporting; and there was some talk about the length of time it takes to get certain gear items. There are plenty of topics covered in the transcript if you’re an OSRS fan.
