Try and continue.

There were a lot of people trying PvP in Final Fantasy XIV for the first time on April 12th. I say this not as any sort of value judgment; considering the extensive changes that were made to every single job’s PvP kit, you could argue that even long-time veterans of PvP were trying it for the first time. But a lot of people were trying it out specifically because there was a new mode of PvP combat to experience, and whether out of a sense of curiosity or duty, people were going in to see how it worked.

In some ways this is just natural; new content is new content, and people are inclined to explore new content when it is available, after all. At the same time, I personally try to avoid doing new content that I know I’m going to hate right off the bat. If you never like PvP, trying a new PvP format is probably just going to make you angry, after all. So what about you? When your MMO releases new content, do you try it even if it’s not your normal playstyle?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
