The Daily Grind: What’s the most challenging boss fight you’ve ever attempted in an MMO?

If you’re a PvP dungeoneer or raider, you probably have at least one good story about a seriously challenging boss. I don’t mean the one that took the most people. I don’t mean the one that caused the most death and destruction for your team. And I don’t mean the one that took you the most tries or went on for hours. I mean challenging in terms of mechanics and coordination.

Obviously there’s no right answer here. I’m not even sure what my own answer would be. Maybe one of the big EverQuest raids where we tackled it with casuals, or a pre-patch Trove boss with my kids. Maybe trying to solo content meant for groups. Certainly many of World of Warcraft’s dungeon bosses are designed with nifty mechanics that ensured everyone had to get it just right or face doom. And I don’t know about “GOAT,” but dang Guild Wars 2’s pre-fixes Soo-Won was pretty frustrating.

Lay it on me: What’s the most challenging boss fight you’ve ever attempted in an MMO?
