Every so often.

World of Warcraft is already struggling to hold my attention at the level cap. It’s not the repetition that gets to me, it’s the fact that as I related on our last podcast episode, I’ve already gotten into the cycle of “awesome, I just got another drop for the same slot of gear that isn’t even an upgrade.” Deterministic gear would fix this, but the developers seem to regard that concept with shrieks of horror and frantic crossing to purge the demons, so… yeah, that kind of has me less than psyched even with a new Raid Finder wing open!

Some games you bounce off long before you get to endgame, sure, and in those instances the game itself already drove you away. But there are a lot of ways to get a given player to happily walk all the way up to the level cap and engage with the gameplay there only to make the top end not enjoyable just the same. So what’s the fastest way to get you to bounce off of an MMO’s endgame?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
