The Daily Grind: Do you ever artificially limit your MMO character?

Every so often, the default challenge in an MMORPG may be to easy or rote for you. And so even if the game doesn’t make it tougher based on your increased experience or accumulation of character-boosting items, you may elect to make things harder on yourself — for the fun of it all.

I’ve been known to do this with certain characters that I play. I may throw out all of the account unlocked goodies that every new toon is granted, for example, or force myself to play with only non-magical gear. Of course, some people may even limit themselves to a single life in an Ironman run as a way to make the game tougher as a whole.

Do you ever artificially hamper or limit your MMO character to increase the challenge or get back to the fundamentals?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
