The Daily Grind: How do you offer your feedback to MMO designers?

It is possible, albeit unlikely, that you think my job consists of sitting at my desk in an office, writing for an hour, and then reading the comments before calling up the designer of a given game. “Hey, Ted,” I say. “Just got the comments on my latest article. It turns out people don’t like your latest update and you should change the values.”

The reason this is inaccurate is not just because I don’t know any designers named Ted. (Or Theodore.) It’s just not a thing that happens. But I do provide feedback, both through regularly writing articles on a site that is known in the industry and by offering honest feedback when prompted as a customer. More specifically, honest and actionable feedback, disregarding the time when I deleted my account for Scarlet Blade with my feedback to the studio simply being, “For shame.”

But really, there are more and less effective ways of leaving feedback. Posts on the official forum? Usually not terribly effective. Posts on Reddit? Still less effective. Post-It notes on your cat? Very ineffective. Assuming you’re motivated to provide feedback, what’s your preferred method, whether or not you expect to get a response?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
