The spear was once described as the “king of the medieval battlefield,” which makes its omission from many fantasy MMOs puzzling. This won’t be the case for Guild Wars 2 when it introduces the new weapon type for all classes with Janthir Wilds this month.
In fact, ArenaNet’s been testing the spear pretty extensively and
provided a new blog post that outlines how the different classes are faring with the weapon — and what might be changed (i.e., buffed) from now through launch.
For example, Warriors are trading the “range threshold mechanic” for a more powerful alpha strike, the Thief’s skill-chaining was smoothed out, and the Elementalist saw a big power increase with their abilities. Check out the blog post for the full rundown of all of the proposed changes and let us know if you plan to use this pointy stick when the expansion drops on August 20th.
