Did you miss out on watching Old School RuneScape’s Summer Summit 2024 presentation? Worry not because Jagex has summarized all of its reveals, and as is usually the case for these showcases, the studio has a whole lot of things planned for players.
We start with what is probably the biggest news out of the whole thing: Project Zanaris, aka the MMORPG’s custom servers. As one might expect, these servers will allow players to customize a wide assortment of things, from NPC damage to PvP rules. Information is currently light right now, but the studio will hold a Discord Q&A session on September 12th and promises that a dedicated team is working on the project and not taking resources away from OSRS development.
Speaking of OSRS development, there’s more Varlamore on the way in the form of The Rising Darkness and The Final Dawn, which will add new areas, new quests, new bosses, and lots of skilling activities like a new agility course, a new Slayer dungeon, a new Fletching activity, and alchemical mixology for Herblore. The Rising Darkness will launch on September 25th, while The Final Dawn is set for sometime in late spring next year.
Next up is Leagues V: Raging Echoes, which will feature new mechanics including unique echo bosses for every area, a combat masteries system that complements relics, and the addition of the Varlamore area. Players can expect this game mode to open in late November 2024.
In between it all will be some comparatively smaller content updates like a new Wilderness zone world boss, the Curse of Arrav quest line that continues the Mahjarrat story line, two new giants of ice and fire to fight, continued development of the Sailing skill, and several game client updates that include an HD mode.
