For Overwatch players still feeling the sting of the forced transition to Overwatch 2 and a heavy sense of longing to return to the good old days of the original version, there’s a consolation prize of a sort. Blizzard announced that it’s going to be bringing an “Overwatch Classic” mode to Overwatch 2 for a limited time starting on Tuesday, November 12th.

The studio indicated that this mode will make a return in the future but perhaps changed slightly, saying, “In the first Overwatch Classic event, we’re taking it all the way back to the original 1.0 release from May 2016, which includes many abilities that haven’t been seen for years and all the chaotic gameplay from that era.”

The event includes all 21 original heroes and 6v6 mode, running until December 2nd. Blizzard said that it won’t be including the original UI, lootboxes, or competitive mode with this event, and it also clarified that Overwatch Classic “is separate from [its] broader 6v6 plans” for Overwatch 2.
