It looks as if the devs of Fen Research have plenty of updates planned for Brighter Shores, at least according to an AMA the studio held with its players, and while these plans regrettably don’t include any timelines, there are a number of things that players could look forward to as the MMORPG moves through early access. Here are a few of the highlights:
- Episode-specific combat professions appear to be going the way of the dodo: The devs believe they’ve figured out a way to avoid needing a separate combat class per episode while still fixing the problems it was meant to address.
- Speaking of combat, there are plans to bring more ways to engage with it either passively or directly, along with more inter-connectivity between professions and the addition of combat spells; details will be shared once things are more concrete.
- Minigames that let players use professions from earlier episode areas in later ones are on the docket.
- Endgame content like raids is something that the devs are planning on.
- A party system and more co-op content is indeed planned; it just wasn’t ready for early access launch.
- Once bosses are added to the game, the devs don’t want the loot bosses drop to be better than what players can craft, but if it happens, then players will still need crafters to enhance the item in question.
- PvP is planned: It will feature a “stake-based system” where combatants put items on the line if they lose, and while it will be game-wide, it will also be opt-in only.
- Early access will be considered complete once Episode 5 has been released, though the devs also plan to continue to add more side quests on top of other content items mentioned earlier.
There’s more for those who want to read through that cover things like chat channels and filters, design ethos, and more, so fans may want to read the full AMA for all of those details.
