ASKA celebrates Yule with festive trees, pushes back some updates, and promises a roadmap

It’s been a minute since we’ve peeked in on the Viking-themed colony survival title ASKA, but that’s primarily because the game has just recently put out a jolly little December update that lets players experience the holiday season in-game and some quality updates to make things generally nicer. Ideally, anyway.

The Yule season is letting players build a festive tree, then use its multiple inventory slots to dress it up in Christmas cheer. Naturally this means the update has also added unique decorations that players can craft and paint like animal ornaments, Norse symbols, tinsel, and tree toppers to let players quite literally craft their perfect holiday tree.

In addition to the Yule goodies, the update applies a wide host of quality-of-life optimizations like customizable save intervals, custom color highlights, and the ability to run an ASKA server on a dedicated machine. The patch has also made several improvements to AI, terrain and vegetation rendering, visual effects, and other overall bug fixes.

The patch closes out ASKA’s first year of early access, which means that developer Sand Sailor Studio is promising a bit more about what’s next in 2025. The studio confirms that the December update didn’t have all of the features it wanted, so it’s had to push some of them back into a January update, and it promises that there will be a roadmap in the very near future.
