So last night, as is tradition, we posted our list of all the reasons we can’t have nice things in MMOs and torched them with a flamethrower. OK, the flamethrower is new, but the sentiment remains: None of that stuff was fun to read, but we needed to record it for history, and now we’re pressing on – and we need to remember that there’s some good in this world, too. Right?
As we chronicle in MJ’s Massively Uplifting column and our “warm fuzzies” category, the genre is filled with gamers and developers who devote their time – and their money – to the MMORPG ecosystem, whether we’re talking about building for the community or literally donating to charities, and we need to never lose sight of that. So let’s welcome 2025 this morning by recapping the truly good things we saw in 2024, from rogue servers getting a license to that story about how a beloved actor kicked a drug addiction with WoW.
Happy New Year, everyone! More of this stuff in 2025, please!
