Look, there are a lot of MMOs I have loved, but I’m not even sorry to say that a part of me is always going to be a sucker for the Vana’diel March in Final Fantasy XI. It just hits something intensely primal for me, even more than several other games that were similarly formative in my early MMO days. Those sounds are burned into my memory and make me close my eyes to say that it’s time to go on an adventure. It’s deep-seated.

The thing about deep emotional connections is that they don’t need to be logical, of course, and I am not claiming that this is the best login music any game has had ever. It’s just the most nostalgic for me, personally. And I could list other tunes that make me nostalgic… but this isn’t about me; it’s about you, dear readers. Which MMO has the most nostalgic login music for you? The tune that just grabs you the second you launch the game?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
