The Daily Grind: Which MMO do you wish ran on a potato? (Not a literal potato)

Not quite a year ago, I asked the MOP readers about the best MMOs for playing on a potato – you know, a crap machine. Today I wanna flip it around, inspired by this Bsky thread about Warframe being tested on some crazy low-end devices.

See, over the holidays, I was stuck on my laptop a lot, and it’s not a gaming laptop. That means most of my MMOs are playable-ish at best in that I can technically boot them and up and log in, if I turn every setting down until everyone’s a fuzzy blob. But try to play for more than a few minutes and I’ll be burning off my fingers, so it’s not pleasant. I wound up playing some older MMOs and lower-key games instead of the ones I wanted to be in – specifically, I wanted to play Guild Wars 2 and Lord of the Rings Online. Neither of which is exactly a new game! But man I wish they played better on a lower-end machine.

Which MMO do you wish ran on a potato? Which MMO just seems designed for that kind of play on the go but runs surprisingly hot?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
