Remember me? Someone is hoping you don't!

There are many negative effects of an MMORPG shutdown, not the least of which is a displaced community, the waste of developer effort, and future inaccessibility of the title. But what may sting us the most is losing any of the accomplishments that we poured hours if not days into achieving.

It’s a different feeling than walking away from an ongoing MMO that you used to play a lot but know that you can come back to at any time. There’s a real loss there. And it can make you think of all of that time that now has little to show for it other than, y’know, memories and friendships and screenshots.

Are there MMOs you regret playing because they got shut down? I think of titles like Tabula Rasa that I paid a full box price for and played for a couple months when I could’ve been playing something else, and then having it all come to nothing. So do you regret the time playing an MMO that was closed?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
