The Daily Grind: Do you engage in world chat in MMOs?

World chat (or global chat) is laden with a reputation it can’t shake. Awful, uncomfortable discussions? Trollish behavior? Dank memes and antique running jokes that died back in 2012? It’s got them all… from time to time. But I’ve found that world chat isn’t consistently bad; sometimes it can be interesting or even informative. Sometimes it’s simply fun to read it because people express enthusiasm for the game or parts of the game they like.

I know that a chunk of us turn off world chat as a matter of principle (you principled people you), but to those who leave it on or turn it on occasionally, I ask: Do you ever engage in world chat in MMOs? Do you answer legitimate queries for help? Do you like getting into positive conversations about your game or game world?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
