Astroneer fans, a whole new galaxy is about to open up to you, as System Era Softworks has officially announced the next game in the Astroneer franchise: Starseeker.

Starseeker is a new game set within the Astroneer universe with a focus on discovery, cooperative expeditions, and camaraderie,” the new game’s Steam page says. “Exploring deep space on the ESS Starseeker, players will need to work together with the entire crew of the space station to complete planet- wide objectives across a multitude of star systems using cutting edge technology. Players will have an advanced set of tools at their disposal to tackle expeditions while they face off with the unknown perils of space – fascinating creatures, hazardous flora, and mysterious forces that await them. The ESS Starseeker is the heart of the crew, an ever-evolving space station where players get together to plan expeditions, upgrade their capabilities, and even hang out with other players.”

Note that last line: Yes, this spinoff has online multiplayer; in fact, while it will offer single-player, it sounds maybe even a little more multiplayer-oriented than the co-op survival sandbox that preceded it.

System Era stresses that this is not a sequel, and it’s not Astroneer 2. Moreover, the studio isn’t abandoning the OG game. “Astroneer will continue to live on with more updates and content for years to come,” the team says. The release window is 2026 on PC, the Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox X|S, so settle in for a wait.
