If anyone has the muscle and marketing to pull off a successful team extraction shooter in 2025, it might as well be Destiny 2’s Bungie. And indeed, the studio is poised to reveal actual gameplay footage from its long-rumored Marathon after the project emerged from extended radio silence earlier this month with cryptic teases.

Those teases led to a “save the date” announcement for this Saturday, April 12th, at which time it will host a gameplay reveal showcase on YouTube and Twitch. Marathon is currently available to wishlist on Steam, and the studio said that it aims to bring it to launch in 2025.

Marathon is a team-based extraction shooter and the first completely new project from Bungie, the creators of Halo and Destiny, in more than a decade,” the studio said. “Set on the mysterious planet of Tau Ceti IV, Marathon will see players inhabit the bodies of Runners, cybernetic mercenaries who have been designed to survive the planet’s harsh environments. While exploring the lost colony that once inhabited the surface, players will search for valuable loot including new weapons and gear.”
