Stuff. You. Give. Me.

As we noted last week, classic Guild Wars is turning 20 years old this month, and ArenaNet is not letting the date of this seminal MMO slip by unremarked. No, you’re not getting a remaster or classic server – it’s already a classic server, fam! – but you are getting an update.

“To celebrate 20 years of the original #GuildWars we’re adding previously exclusive and limited weapons to the loot drop table – soon to be yours to collect,” ArenaNet has said again, only this time, it’s actually posted a list.

“As we announced last week, there will be a special update to Guild Wars on April 15th featuring permanently updated availability for a number of limited weapons and miniatures. Various weapons from pre-order bonuses, special promotions and a few weapons previously exclusive to the PvP Reward system have been added to loot tables across Tyria, Cantha, Elona and Eye of the North. These weapons only appear as Rare quality drops (with a few exceptions as noted) and are randomized rather than featuring the fixed stats and free creation of their bonus-item incarnations. Rods, Staffs, Shields and Focuses can also drop with a variety of stat requirements.”

We spy 21 new weapons available throughout the game, six for Tyria only, three in Cantha (including the shield from the Japanese first anniversary), two in Elona, and 15 in Eye of the North zones. I played Classic Guild Wars for a very long time and farmed weapons for hundreds of trades, and there are definitely a few things in here I’ve never seen before – especially the Japanese and Taiwanese preorder items and the Korean Coke items. I’m guessing folks outside of the west will be happy to get their hands on things like the hourglass staff, too.

The wiki also includes 12 minipets from various promos and contests, though you’ll have to grind out hard mode quests through the Embark Beach system to get them. That panda!

There’s apparently more on deck too. “You’ll want to keep an eye out for some other rare drops,” the wiki teases. See you on April 15th!
