Over a month after Lord of the Rings Online opened its greatly hyped 64-bit servers to new characters and transfers, SSG has opened up an additional realm to help with the high demand. Yesterday, Grond went live for EU players, and so far the team said that things on these worlds look promising: “So far things seem to be working well with no issues related to transfer, housing, or Grond the server.” We’re now expecting a timeline for the second server, Sting, which should help alleviate congestion for US players. When Sting is live, that’ll mean SSG will have added a total of six now 64-bit servers.
However, many of the earlier housing and transfer issues are still ongoing. Numerous players still report that they are missing writs, decorations, and currency in the move and haven’t been helped yet. Earlier this week, SSG’s Rob Ciccolini said that the team was mostly through reports on the wallet and still working on writs and deco. SSG’s Cordovan rep echoed Severlin’s comments from earlier this week, encouraging players to use the notoriously slow CS ticket process and saying, “Work is underway to deal with some/many of the causes of missing writs, but ultimately you’ll need to work with customer support to resolve any remaining issues.” We also continue awaiting information on the opening of the dark worlds.
Meanwhile, LOTRO deployed Update 43.4 — a very minor patch — and began testing Update 44: Crown of Hamât. “This beta includes a new six-player instance, a Lalia’s Market refresh, quests, missions, and more,” SSG said.
Also, for fun, one player took a sample size of around 900 players and created a pie chart to show the spread of classes among the population.
