Leave it up to the amazing classic Guild Wars community to top what ArenaNet is already doing for this legacy MMO on its 20th anniversary. This week we got the news that the studio is patching up the game next week with previously exclusive weapons and minipets in its loot tables, and now fans are one-upping that with a “Return to Guild Wars” event that kicks off on April 15th.

Guild Wars 1 is a game that’s incredibly special to lots of us,” the organizer, Guild Wars 2 content creator Laranity, says. “So this year, to coincide with the game’s 20th anniversary, we are all logging back in to play together! We’ll be playing through the original Prophecies campaign together over the course of a month, focusing on a different part of the story campaign each week.”

Laranity says that over a thousand players have signed up to participate so far — and ArenaNet is giving the event its full blessing. If you’d like to join this crowd going back to Tyria-that-was, check out the fan Discord and Twitch channel.
