Have you been filing through the Steam storefront, hoping against hope that a multiplayer survival game would finally let you live out your dreams of being a squirrel, then weeping bitterly and silently as you see that no such game exists? Developer Far Seas and publisher Amplifier Studios have heard your plea and have put forth Squirreled Away, a multiplayer co-operative “squirrel survival adventure” that lets you and your friends live their best authentic squirrel life.

“Explore, gather, craft, and build incredible treehouses in acres of beautiful parkland. Scurry across lawns, up trees, and leap limb to limb solo, or up to four friends can play together in co-op. Endless summer days of adventure await.”

This new game, which started life as a school project and ended up transforming into the full release that’s now available on Steam, promises all kinds of survival activities with a squirrely twist including “squirrel parkour” that lets players climb, jump, and glide around; construction features that let players craft and assemble their dream treehouses; an emphasis on relaxed exploration; and a cast of animal characters to aid, all for solo players or teams of up to four. The game’s latest patch also lets all players in a session use a crafted fur color regardless of who unlocks it and fixes several bugs.

The game is available for $14 but will be on sale for 10% off until April 11th, while a demo is on offer for those who would prefer to try before they buy. As for Steam user reviews, those sit at a “very positive” overall score, with players showing appreciation for the chill vibes and cute squirrel good times while also pointing out the game’s overall short completion time.
