Season 2 Episode 2 for The First Descendant is already well underway, but next week will be bringing more to the looter shooter when a patch on Thursday, April 17th, introduces more story content, new events, and revamps for the new arrivals.
The updates were showcased during a developer livestream earlier this week, which offered a peek at new additions like an ultimate version of the character Blair along with a new story focused around him, a challenge mode for the Void Erosion activity, new enhancement systems for reactors and external components to make them even stronger, and five new external component sets.
Another major portion of the patch will be a series of new player experience adjustments that introduce guide quests for players, a simplification of main quests and reorganization of early game field maps, an in-game web guide, and some easier farming for Ultimate Bunny. There will also be new events starting April 17th that offer login rewards, ways to get skins for Ultimate Bunny and Ultimate Haley, and a pair of challenge quests.
Finally, quality-of-life updates are planned for the April patch such as arche tuning XP rewards for taking on hard difficulty special operations, the ability to craft identical weapons at the highest tier every time, and rewards for the Sigma Sector area.
What won’t be coming in April is the external part core system, which has been postponed in favor of enhancing the defense specs of characters instead. Content meant to increase character specs is also being delayed to prioritize creating content for Season 3.
The stream also granted a look ahead at what’s coming to TFD in May: Players can expect socketing and equippable items to arche tuning, a different void abyss boss battle target in the form of the Ice Maiden, ways to let players convert unnecessary cores into wanted ones, updates to the party finder that promise to “[lay] the foundation for future cooperative content,” and the addition of what Nexon is calling “dynamic motion” – aka jiggle physics. And, yes, the devs made sure to preview that in action. Obviously.
