Last month we were first introduced to Wildgate, a sci-fi extraction shooter from developer Moonshot Games and publisher Dreamhaven – that’s the company that Mike Morhaime is helming – that heralds itself as co-op owing to its crew-based spaceship control but also notes players can win by eradicating all rival vessels, so it’s probably PvPvE again.
But perhaps it’s better if you try to find that out yourself, as this weekend saw a so-called “community preview” playtest begin, which is running until Monday, April 14th, at 8:00 p.m. EDT.
Trying to get into this playtest is a matter of filling out a sign-up form and hoping to be tapped; Moonshot notes that not everyone who registers interest will be granted access since it is a “smaller size” test. As far as what’s available, the full game loop is on offer for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players, with full cross-platform play supported. The servers will stay online 24/7, though the announcement is also quick to point out that bugs, crashes, and maintenance periods may occur.
Testing is obviously underway so it’s very possible that signups (which are still active) may not yield any entry into the game. Even so, if you’ve got any level of curiosity and have no plans until Monday night, maybe give this one a shot. And also make sure to report bugs and provide feedback.
